WP7 Game Boy emulator demoed, soon you can show your Pokemans in Silverlight (video)

Classic gaming on the go is more or less old-hat for many smartphone platforms, but Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 is still playing catch-up. Latest addition is this Game Boy emulator, running in Silverlight courtesy of Samuel Blanchard, who created the video below and then triple-letterboxed it for your squinting pleasure. Right now it is still a work in progress, unable to save your in-game progress and needing some further polish, but it certainly looks like it runs well enough — though hopefully he gets that aspect ratio fixed before offering this up for download.

Samsung Forte is the SCH-R910, brings TouchWiz LTE action to MetroPCS (video)

Look familiar? You’ve actually seen it twice before, once as a QWERTY slider and once as an unidentified LTE smartphone. Well, it just so happens that a new batch of eighteen pictures have surfaced, and the two phones are are actually one — this is the Samsung Forte for MetroPCS, which is presently running a recent build of Android 2.2.1. While we still don’t know if it’s got the 1GHz processor and 5 megapixel camera that lovingly accompanied the original rumor, it appears to have Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UI on board, lending extra credence to the possibility that the handset might receive Galaxy S branding when it materializes in stores. We’ve got just one last note here, and that’s this whole reveal feels rather… planted to us. Watch the video after the break to see what we mean, and find plenty more pictures at the link below.

Mega reader brings true multi-tasking iPhone, you can walk and read at the same time (video)
Galaxy’s owners are already familiar with the awesome power of the text on top of a live camera feed view their phones, but now their iPhone counterparts will join in the fun. mega-reader, e-reading app, which survived the murder of a man from the App Store water long enough to reach version 2.1, has just added a “Heads Up Display” feature in its list of features. Its mission is to make transparent the iPhone, which is achieved by conveying the images of what the camera on the back of the phone in front of it. Centrafuse leads to iPhone control via touchscreen, carputer dreams come to life (video)
We’ve seen countless individuals integrate their phone, PMP or tablet into their whip, but for years, we’ve all been thinking the same thing: “There has to be an easier way.” Turns out, there is. One Mr. Romin has seemingly unearthed the solution, which involves a Lilliput FA1042 touchpanel, a Belkin AV dock adapter cable and a critical piece of software by the name of Centrafuse. Working in conjunction, he has enabled his monitor to actually control the iPhone, and when firing up a YouTube video, the content plays back on the big screen while the controls remain visible on the handset. It’s a nifty setup, for sure, and we’re downright excited to see this rig get installed in a vehicle far too small for American roads in a fortnight or so. For now, catch it working in action just past the break.

iPhone meets Arduino, tilt joystick for mobile games results (video)

Even though games like Infinity Blade can be great fun on the iPhone, there’s no getting around the fact that touchscreen-centric, buttonless devices don’t offer the best gaming ergonomics. A modding project gone horribly right, however, might just fix that right up for all of us. Shane Wighton set out to build a robot to try and beat his favorite iPhone game, replete with a webcam and an Arduino setup, but in the process of doing so he “just realized that [he'd] made a mechanism to play tilt based phone games with a joystick.” Yes indeedy, one of the most awesome DIY gaming accessories was built by fluke as much as design. See it revolutionizing mobile gaming just after the break.

T-Mobile UK cuts ‘fair use’ allowance to 500MB, sends you home to watch online video

In one of the most insensitive announcements in recent PR history, T-Mobile UK is telling its customers who want to download or stream online video to their mobile devices to “save that stuff for [their] home broadband.” The carrier, one half of the UK’s biggest operator Everything Everywhere, had up until now offered one of the better monthly allowance deals with a 3GB data consumption limit on Android phones. It still is, in fact, since its new changes aren’t coming into effect until February 1st, but come that fateful Tuesday, T-Mo’s understanding of “fair use” will shrink down to 500MB each month — after which point you’ll still get to browse the web and email for free, but any video content will presumably be subject to an extra charge. It’s not clear how “that stuff” will be handled by T-Mobile once you cross the frugal new threshold, nor is it clear whether customers who signed up for big bodacious 3GB of data will be set free once this new lockdown on mobile video is in effect. Godspeed to you all.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Motorola Atrix: a second look (video)
Each of the CES there is something so charming that we can not help going back for seconds (or thirds ). This year, it happens to be the Motorola Atrix, which is no doubt our gadget show, and Myriam together with a deep practical purposes. We have used every excuse we swing past the Motorola booth “on our way to the” other stuff on the show floor, and finally broke down and go to another practice. Check out the video after the show .. break, which hopefully should help explain the Atrix transfers can be made from desktop phones, portable set-top box and I apologize to our enthusiasm />

Next-generation Mercedes mbrace iPhone app hands-on (video)

Last year Hughes Telematics had the Mercedes mbrace iPhone app on display, providing some OnStar-like functionality like locking your car remotely, unlocking your car remotely, and even getting navigation to your car for those times when you park way out in the lot and can’t find it again when you’re suffering from post-shopping marathon mental lethargy. Now there’s a new version coming, getting submitted to Apple at the end of the month for a February release, and it adds a suite of new navigation features. Full details after the break.

HTC EVO 4G Shift handled on video by Wirefly

Kind of unusual for a top-tier third-party retailer to beat everyone else (including the manufacturer and carrier) to the punch with a detailed live video of a new smartphone — but hey, really, who are we to complain? Wirefly has posted a nearly 10-minute introduction to the EVO 4G Shift that Sprint just made official this morning, comparing it to both an original EVO 4G and a Droid 2 so you can get a feel for the diminutive dimensions (relatively speaking, anyway). It looks pretty fast from the video, and the stock Quadrant score over 1,400 would seem to back up that impression — but naturally, we’re sure it can get even better with some careful ROM tweaking and a timely upgrade to Gingerbread. Follow the break for the full video.
