Motorola has an LTE phone for Verizon in the works
Verizon's chief operating officer John Stratton mentioned today that "LTE smartphones are on the horizon," a sentiment the carrier has been echoing since it launched its 4G network earlier this month . That alone isn't new, but what is new is the mention of Moto in the same breath: "Motorola will be right there." He wouldn't go into specifics about models, specs, release dates, or prices, but we wouldn't be surprised if the offering looked a little like the Tegra 2 -powered device codenamed Olympus (pictured) -- allegedly for AT&T -- that we've seen floating around recently

Best Buy getting locked out of Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global for selling them too cheaply?
Drama! We're hearing from many, many tipsters right now that Best Buy has issued a stop-sale on two of Verizon's latest (and presumably more popular) models. Officially it's a "recall" of some sort, but the word on the street is that the carrier's preventing activations from Droid 2 Globals and Droid Pros sold at Best Buy locations.

Verizon slashes daily unlimited prepaid voice rate in half, now $1.99
This won't have much relevance to the lot of us that no longer user our voices to communicate, choosing instead to discuss current events with our friends just blocks away in 160-character chunks fired off on cramped QWERTY keyboards -- but if you look at carrying a phone as more of a necessary evil than a lifestyle accessory, this might be of interest.

Verizon sucks at Photoshop: the Continuum definitely can’t do this, we checked
Notice something missing from that Continuum there on Big Red's home page? That's right: if this were a real phone, there'd be an arbitrary black bar across the screen somewhere around the young lady's midsection, followed by a "ticker" at the bottom... but instead, just as with the iOS-powered Droid X , they've once again exceeded the bounds of reality with a little help from Adobe products.

Samsung’s SCH-LC11 CDMA / LTE mobile hotspot gets FCC approval, probably Verizon bound
We've heard rumors that Novatel is working on an LTE -enabled version of its MiFi for Verizon, likely for launch early next year -- but you've got to figure that a few other manufacturers would like a slice of that sweet, juicy 4G pie, right?

Motorola Droid gets new update — and no, it’s not Gingerbread
Good news, original Droid owners: Verizon still hasn't forgotten about you, delivering a mild update today that includes a handful of enhancements and fixes. Notably, you'll be getting updated Twitter and Gmail apps in ROM plus updated Amazon and News / Weather widgets and a bunch of improvements to the phone's built-in Exchange ActiveSync support.

Verizon launching LTE network in December 2010 (video)
Verizon's been talking details on LTE deployment for some time now, but even at CTIA earlier in the year, the carrier insisted that it would be the first half of 2011 before the next-gen network was active in the US of A. Now, it looks as if the engineers have been working triple-time in order to get Long Term Evolution live in the States under Big Red's branding, as a new VZW commercial (embedded after the break) has affirmed that the first LTE waves will go public here in December 2010. Yeah, next month .

Verizon launching ’4G’ smack talk campaign against AT&T
Never ends, does it? The top four carriers in the US love slinging mud, but the trash-talking between Verizon and AT&T is always particularly vicious -- and it's showing no signs of ebbing.

LG Cosmos Touch hits Verizon November 23rd for $80
We're having a harder time by the day getting excited about a touchscreen dumbphone with a 1.3 megapixel camera for $80 -- especially now that you've got a number of respectable Android choices below that price point -- but if you're an LG diehard, you need physical QWERTY, and you couldn't care less about the Android Market, we suppose you might want to give the once-rumored , now-official Cosmos Touch a look. Besides the 2.8-inch wide QVGA display, you've got Bluetooth 2.1, memory expansion up to 16GB, some semblance of social networking support, and VZ Navigator turn-by-turn navigation on board.
