T-Mobile confirms Galaxy S with 4G, Android-based Sidekick 4G are coming

Whoa, this is kind of out of the blue: on top of the Vibrant 4G that we’ve already had leaked ad nauseam (though he refers to it as a “Galaxy S 4G”), T-Mobile USA CEO Phiipp Humm mentioned at an event this morning that the company is preparing an HSPA+ Sidekick — yes, a Sidekick — albeit with Android slotted in place of the defunct Danger Hiptop operating system. For the record, T-Mobile hasn’t had any Sidekicks in its lineup since the middle of last year, though it does own the Sidekick brand — not Danger / Microsoft — and would undoubtedly love to bring it back to relevance. Coincidentally, Mister Android himself, Andy Rubin, came from Danger — so the Sidekick’s starting to follow him around. Kind of like… you know, a sidekick. Both products are said to be “coming soon.”

T-Mobile G2 Android is now free to consumers have never had it so good

Want one of the best around Android phone equipped with a fine keyboard, and some pseudo-4G Internet connection? When you jump on the Google Mobile World just became a little easier than T-Mobile has decided to strip the last $ 50 in G2 of the purchase price and set it loose for free two-year deals. It was quite a familiar sight to our European readers, but the Prime Minister’s Android phones, is rarely, if ever, occupy such a sweet price point in the U.S.. Let’s hope this is a happy omen of things to come. />
[Thanks, Dani S]
/> Update: This pricing is only valid until January 20 so if you want to, it is better to do so immediately.

T-Mobile UK cuts ‘fair use’ allowance to 500MB, sends you home to watch online video

In one of the most insensitive announcements in recent PR history, T-Mobile UK is telling its customers who want to download or stream online video to their mobile devices to “save that stuff for [their] home broadband.” The carrier, one half of the UK’s biggest operator Everything Everywhere, had up until now offered one of the better monthly allowance deals with a 3GB data consumption limit on Android phones. It still is, in fact, since its new changes aren’t coming into effect until February 1st, but come that fateful Tuesday, T-Mo’s understanding of “fair use” will shrink down to 500MB each month — after which point you’ll still get to browse the web and email for free, but any video content will presumably be subject to an extra charge. It’s not clear how “that stuff” will be handled by T-Mobile once you cross the frugal new threshold, nor is it clear whether customers who signed up for big bodacious 3GB of data will be set free once this new lockdown on mobile video is in effect. Godspeed to you all.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

T-Mobile launching data tethering / wireless hotspot plan on Nov. 3rd for $14.99?

T-Mobile said it was "working to deliver" hotspot support to T-Mobile G2 users, and now we might know the reason for the delay -- an allegedly leaked document details Magenta's scheme to offer a comprehensive data tethering plan for a $14.99 monthly fee.

Confirmed: Windows Phone 7 launches October 11th in New York City, and T-Mobile’s on board

If there was any scrap of doubt in your mind, we'll obliterate it for you right now -- October 11th is the day Windows Phone 7 will be unveiled in the US , not just at a fancy London event... and wonder of wonders, T-Mobile's the star of the show. Looks like AT&T won't be launching Metro UI handsets all alone, eh?

T-Mobile and HTC to launch first 21Mbps HSPA+ smartphone in September

T-Mobile might be busy expanding its we-swear-it's-like-4G HSPA+ network to all sorts of metro areas in the US, but those theoretical 21Mbps speeds have been limited to those wielding WebConnect Rocket data cards, not any actual phones. It looks like that's about to change, though: a spokesman for T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom told Light Reading that an HTC-built Android phone capable of HSPA+ speeds will launch in September, followed by another device in the fourth quarter sometime before the holidays

Motorola Charm coming to T-Mobile with ‘enhanced’ Android 2.1 Motoblur? Update promised for CLIQ and CLIQ XT?

Usual rules apply -- we can't independently confirm this at the moment -- but a tipster has sent us what appears to be T-Mobile training materials for an upcoming Motoblur-infused candybar smartphone, the Motorola Charm. Only this Motoblur is allegedly powered by Android 2.1 and boasts the same scalable widgets as we saw on Droid X , in addition to improved Facebook / Twitter integration (hello, Like and Retweet) and the usual Eclair refinements. As far as the hardware is concerned, there isn't much to glean from it at this point, aside from a textured QWERTY keyboard reminiscent of the CLIQ and a "camera" button denoting some form of memory-capturing capabilities. Speaking of which, the materials mention that the enhanced Motoblur is heading to CLIQ and CLIQ XT .

It's been a really uproarious week for CEOs in the tech community -- and it looks like the fun is not quite over yet. Early this morning T-Mobile USA announced the departure of CEO Robert Dotson after 15 years with the company. His resignation will take effect in February of 2011, and he'll stay on the company's board until May, with former T-Mobile Deutschland CEO Philip Humm stepping in to fill his shoes.
