Target offering iPhone 4, 3GS starting November 7th
See, you were hoping this would end with something like "...and they'll be the exclusive retailers of the white iPhone 4 ." Yeah, no -- just the standard-issue iPhone 3GS and black iPhone 4 here, coming to Target Mobile locations nestled within some 846 Targets across the country starting on November 7 with the same pricing as everywhere else.

Cyanogen Mod 6 — the one with Froyo — hits target list of devices, first stable release

You know the drill; if you need a bit of Froyo in your mobile life.

Samsung Seek takes Boost Mobile in new form factor directions
The classic landscape QWERTY slider layout is nothing new -- at least, not by most carriers' standards -- but for a Sprint subsidiary still tied up in the vintage world of iDEN , hardware moves at a slightly slower pace. That's right: the Samsung Seek becomes Boost Mobile's first-ever touchscreen device with a side-sliding full keyboard, offering a 2.6-inch QVGA display paired with a 1.3 megapixel camera and microSD expansion up to 32GB -- a pretty modest feature set, hence the pretty reasonable contract-free price of $149.99 (compare that to the recently-launched i1 , for example, which goes for $300).

Verizon rumors: LTE, Android 3.0 tablets, a Droid Pro, and more
BGR's lined up a handful of very believable rumors for Big Red today -- and if you're an Android fan, you're going to want to pay very close attention (heck, even if you're not, you should probably take a look). First up, Motorola's said to have a full-touch Android 2.2 handset in the works with global roaming capability on GSM and presumably HSPA -- a first in the CDMA Android world -- that apparently looks a bit like a Motorola Q (without the keyboard, of course).

‘The Shack’ downsizes, opens Bullseye Mobile kiosks in many Target stores
Radio Shack is at it again, expanding your perceptions of the place that once actually sold radio components. A year after that ill-received 'The Shack' marketing campaign the company is now making a rather more substantial move, securing an arrangement with Target stores to see the creation of so-called Bullseye Mobile kiosks. This has started with a 100-store pilot program but, throughout this year and into summer next, the expectation is to prop them up in 1,750 big box locations.

HP CEO: Palm could end up a ‘sub-brand’ of the company
Given the way HP has treated acquisitions like VoodooPC and Compaq, this should come as no surprise -- but CEO Mark Hurd is at it again with comments about his company's recent Palm acquisition to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine , saying that the brand could "move into the background" and become a "sub-brand," ostensibly the same as Envy and iPAQ (he gives Pavilion as a specific example). From a marketing alignment perspective, that makes sense -- though it assumes that the HP brand is stronger than Palm's in the target demographics that they're looking to sell into

iPhone OS 2 apps no longer welcome on the App Store
Apple hasn't been shy about dropping support for older hardware and software in recent years, and it looks like the iPhone and iPod touch are no exception: according to a short note on the iPhone developer site encouraging devs to get ready for iOS 4 , the App Store will no longer affect apps that target iOS 2. That doesn't really mean much right now -- apart from a few iPod touch owners who didn't pay the $10 iOS 3 upgrade fee , we doubt there are many people out there still running iOS 2 -- but we can see Apple dropping support for iOS 3 apps next year when iOS 5 and a new iPhone are announced, and that'll effectively be the end of the original iPhone and touch, which can't be upgraded to iOS 4.

Sony Ericsson ‘Shakira’ to be called the Xperia X8?
We hesitate to call these legit press shots -- as we've said before, Sony Ericsson fans are world-renowned for their capacity for high-quality fakery -- but German site mobiFlip.de has posted a bunch of renders of the so-called Shakira that look very possibly real to us. They're also saying that the phone will be dubbed the Xperia X8 at retail, a name that probably makes sense considering that the 3-inch Android phone is clearly designed to slot in below the high-end X10 . Beyond that, we still don't have much to go on -- pricing, availability, target markets, and so on -- so we'll just hang out here on the edge of our seats for a while longer, or until we're distracted once again by the X10 mini pro's mind-numbing cuteness

Android 2.2 SDK goes live, developers likely unable to crash Google’s download server
Giving devs access to freshly-announced versions of mobile operating systems on the very same day that they're announced is pretty much the way things work nowadays -- the first version of Windows Phone 7 understandably excepted -- so we're pleased to see that Google's kit for Android 2.2 Froyo is now up and running. You start out by downloading a modest 18-odd megabyte package that just contains tools with no target platforms, then you open a separate app to pull and install only the platforms you want (you can go all the way back to version 1.5, if you're so inclined). So kick off that download now while you grab lunch -- we hear the lobster bisque they're serving in the cafeteria today is pretty good

Meizu M9 getting Android 2.1, possible August release?
Well, what do you know -- perhaps there is an M9 in your future (or someone's future) after all! After hearing the one and only Jack Wong detail the thing earlier this year, Beareyes.com is reporting that the device -- with the same 3.6-inch display, 1 GHz (Samsung S5PC110) CPU, HDMI 1.3 out and more -- may be out as early as this August. We think this is certainly do-able, although anything can happen -- as the drawn-out gestation of a certain Meizu M8 made painfully clear. The new news?
