Sprint and Clearwire set to launch WiMAX in Los Angeles by December 1st
The headline says it all on this one, folks. Thanks to a tweet by Sprint representative Stephanie Vinge we know that company and Clearwire will be flipping the switch on 4G service in LA sometime before December 1st, following on recent successes in New York City, Tampa, Hartford, and many other lovely locales. Of course, we all know it isn't actually 4G , but it's as close as we're going to get right now, and we'll certainly take it

AT&T details transition for acquired Alltel customers
Yes, Verizon got the lion's share of Alltel's peeps post-merger, but AT&T is reaching out to the handful of customers it scored as a result of Verizon's divestitures and offering them deals on handsets in an effort to get them switched over to GSM in a smooth, timely fashion. Though owners of different Alltel phones are getting mailings offering different replacement devices (a Tritan owner is getting dumbphone promos and a Hero owner is getting what you see above, for instance), it would appear all upgrade deals apply to all customers making the transition, regardless of device

Warning, heavy users: T-Mobile just now turning on data throttling?
T-Mobile had become the only top-tier carrier in the US to endorse data throttling over capping back in April, and at the time, we'd thought the feature was being turned on immediately -- but new communication being passed around internally has us thinking that they're just now getting around to flipping the switch. A screen up on TmoNews says that the policy will start this Saturday, October 16, after which exceeding 5GB of data usage in a month will result in "web browsing capabilities...

is the iPhone worth the switch to AT&T?
Okay I currently have a T-Mobile G1, which is a great phone, but T-Mobile coverage in my area is shit. I can barely 2 bars in my area, and if I moved a lot, while calling my invitation is lost. The people of T-Mobile said it is because there are many trees in my area (Memorial in Houston, TX), which is a type of logic. So I’m down to thinking, should I switch to AT & T for the iPhone 3G or staying with T-Mobile and Google get the Nexus One? Which service provider has a plan for cheaper 3G internet, unlimited texting, and the number of minutes?

Can I switch phones? (T-Mobile)?
Hey guys, I am eligible for an upgrade and I want the Nexus One, problem is with the Nexus One they won’t allow an upgrade if you’re on a family plan. My friend said he is eligible for an upgrade and wants the MyTouch. Is it possible for me to upgrade to a MyTouch and my friend to upgrade to a Nexus One and then we can switch phones?
