Rogers delays BlackBerry Torch, Samsung Captivate (but not by much)
We've got a two-pack of bad news for Rogers customers today (at least, it's bad news if you were planning on upgrading your phone in the next few days). Both the BlackBerry Torch and Samsung's Galaxy S-based Captivate have been delayed for you guys, though the Torch will be coming around in just a few days' time -- September 30, to be exact -- while the Captivate's fighting a "manufacturing delay" and isn't expected now until mid-October. SLCD-equipped Droid Incredible filtering into retail
Those incoming Droid Incredibles with SLCD displays swapped in for those ultra-scarce AMOLED units are starting to make cameos on store shelves around the country, it seems, which means the supply constraints that have held it back for most of this year should start to evaporate. Of course, the Droid Incredible has been around long enough now so that demand is going to start to diminish naturally anyhow -- so... you know, six of one, half-dozen of the other.

Nokia Siemens picks up Motorola network infrastructure division for $1.2 billion
Nokia Siemens has just announced that it will be purchasing Motorola's wireless network infrastructure for a cool $1.2 billion in cash. This comes on the heels of an announcement by Moto that it would be splitting the company in two, one for Mobile Devices and one for Broadband and Mobility Solutions. It's clearly the company's strong showing in both WiMAX and CDMA that Nokia Siemens is after, although The New York Times points out that integrating the 7,500-strong staff, manufacturing, supply lines, and multiple product lines will be quite a challenge

Droid X sold out online and scarce at retail
Verizon told CNET the company had "done everything possible" to ensure adequate supply of the Droid X , but there's apparently no anticipating the demand for a top-tier smartphone -- like the Droid Incredible before it, the giant 1GHz Motorola handset is already out of stock, both online (today's orders suffer a ten-day delay) and in many brick and mortar stores. Verizon confirmed the shortages in a communique to Android Central , saying the company was pleased with initial sales, and that though they were "successful at keeping up with early demand" supplies are presently "low or out." Nokia’s C1 and C2 series try hard not to break even the smallest of banks
It looks like Nokia's conversion from the time-tested four-digit naming scheme to the one-letter, one-number strategy may be nearing completion now that the company has announced a new series of ultra-low end candybars that all have homes within the Cseries . The C1 is actually a three-pack of phones -- the C1-00, C1-01, and C1-02 -- all of which feature Nokia's longest standby time ever (quoted at six weeks ) along with a color display, integrated flashlight, 3.5mm headphone hack, and FM radio; the 01 and 02 variants add microSD slots, while the 01 also features a VGA camera and the 00 becomes Nokia's very first dual-SIM device to hit the market. The C2 is also a dual-SIM device, but unlike the C1-00, the C2 can keep both SIMs active simultaneously, meaning you'll be able to get calls and messages to either SIM without manually switching.
