iPhone 4 free case program to end September 30th, get one while you still can
Back when Apple initially said it'd offer free iPhone 4 cases to assuage reception concerns, there was a September 30th deadline given for the program. After which, according to Steve and company during the post-press conference Q&A , Apple would "evaluate" the prolonged need for such an offer. Well, looks like the decision has been made.

Motorola’s Jha: moving headquarters to Cali not a ‘driving priority’
Rumors have run rampant that the head of Motorola's soon-to-be-independent Mobile Devices division, Sanjay Jha , has plans to high-tail back to the Californian home from whence he came (where his family still resides, coincidentally) once the split wraps up. That may still be the case, but it looks like it's not necessarily happening any time soon coming off comments this week from the dude himself. In comments to shareholders on Monday, Jha said that "the mobile devices headquarters is in [Chicago suburb] Libertyville, and that will continue at the point of the split," qualifying the statement by saying that he'd "evaluate [their] needs" afterward but that doesn't "know" that relocating the business "is a driving priority right now." Moving the business clearly has personal benefits for Jha -- not to mention likely brings a refreshed Motorola access to a greater pool of high-tech talent in the Valley -- but regardless of what happens, he says that he doesn't think the company will "dramatically change [its] space in Chicago." Might not be a bad idea to fly all the engineers away from those nasty Chicago winters for a couple months, anyway, right

Kin is basically a Zune HD inside, can go for a weekend on a charge
In a discussion with Kin product manager Derek Snyder this afternoon, we've confirmed that both the Kin One and Kin Two are built on the same foundation as the Zune HD -- in other words, they're running NVIDIA Tegra silicon, and there's no reason that anything you see on a Zune HD couldn't run just as well on a Kin. Of course, that's a purely theoretical statement at this point since Zune apps don't work on Kin as it stands -- the platform's completely closed, though Microsoft has been insistent that we should keep a close eye on its over-the-air updates after launch as features evolve.

Google responds to Apple’s HTC lawsuit: ‘We stand behind our Android operating system’
We were wondering when Google would have something to say about Apple's patent lawsuit against HTC , since the majority of the claims appear to implicate Android itself , and while the knives aren't out yet, we just got a short-but-sweet statement from a spokesperson: "We are not a party to this lawsuit. However, we stand behind our Android operating system and the partners who have helped us to develop it." We're quite curious to see whether this means Google will contribute money and/or manpower to HTC's legal defense -- we'd bet we'll see some of Eric Schmidt's crew at the table when this thing finally hits a courtroom
