LG Optimus 2X: first dual-core smartphone launches with Android, 4-inch display, 1080p video recording
That's right, it's official. Needless to say, that LG Star we recently got our paws on is very real, though it won't go by that name at retail -- just as LG's own release materials had suggested , this monster has picked up the Optimus 2X name as it morphs from a prototype into brutally fast, overpowered reality. At the phone's heart beats a dual-core Tegra 2 processor running at 1GHz, the first such configuration to be officially announced by any smartphone manufacturer (though we're expecting others any day now).

LG Optimus 2X looks like a dual-core Star, shows off HDMI-out while embarrassing the Galaxy S on video
LG has, in the most casual fashion possible, revealed the name of a new smartphone it intends to launch in the Korean market: the Optimus 2X. That brand name was buried deep in a release yesterday about exclusive Ennio Morricone content bundled with the Optimus Mach , though some studious folks have unearthed it and subsequently found YouTube content showing off the handset

Droid 2 R2-D2 edition coming September 30
Looks like Verizon and Motorola have finally come clean with the release dates on that sweet Droid 2 R2-D2 edition -- a poster next to that demo unit at the Star Wars-themed Celebration V convention in Orlando says it's due to arrive on September 30. Unfortunately there's no word on how much more this thing will cost over the regular Droid 2, but hey -- Artoo's worth it, right

Android GPS navigation: X-wing edition
Why settle for a Star Wars voice pack when you can completely replace your boring, "useful" navigation system will an authentic X-wing targeting computer? That's thinking of Flash-developer Christopher Caleb, at least, who put his skills to use to develop this note-perfect Adobe AIR-based app for Android.

DARPA and NIST testing real-time translation system for use in Afghanistan… with a Nexus One
DARPA has long been working on making real-time translation systems practical and portable , and it looks like it's now closer than ever to its goal -- although it can't necessarily take all the credit. The research agency recently teamed up with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (or NIST ) to test three different systems as part of its TRANSTAC project, at least one of which relies on none other than a Nexus One to do real-time, spoken language translation from Pashto to English, and vice versa.

is this a good plot summary for Evil Star by Anthony Horowitz?
The story takes us on Matt’s journey to Peru. Matt is once again called by the Nexus to travel to Peru in search for the second gate.
Along the way, Matt’s opponents seem to be one-step ahead. Even so, Matt is not alone. By his side are Pedro, the second gatekeeper and the Incas, an ancient tribe who shares the same enemy as Matt.
Matt first met Pedro when he saved Matt from an ambush. Unfortunately, the attackers kidnapped Richard. Matt realized that he needed to save Richard. The mission to find Richard led him to a man named Salamanda.
It appears that Salamanda is striving to open the second gate, which was the entire Nazca dessert. The traitor was found to be Fabian, a person who seemed to be one of the well-known members in the Nexus. (I honestly did not expect this!). Matt and Pedro must take drastic actions to stop the second gate from opening with little amount of time left.
In the highlight of the story, we learn that Salamanda is using a satellite to replace a star. (Is this why the title is called Evil Star?) With the clock ticking, Matt and Pedro jumped into the helicopter with Atoc in control. As Matt and Pedro arrive at the Nazca dessert, the helicopter crashes killing Atoc and injuring Pedro. Therefore, Matt has to go alone. However, the gate opened before Matt could stop it releasing the Old Ones. The King of the Old Ones arrived and faced Matt. Matt used all of his powers to wound the king. However, the king was able to escape and heal the wounds Matt has done.
After battling the King of the Old Ones, Matt was in deep coma but was healed by Pedro using his power to heal.
