Sony Ericsson LiveView review

This isn't the first time that Sony Ericsson's dabbled in the field of spy-like Bluetooth wrist accessories, but as we all know, extortionate prices and limited functionality meant these old timers never really took off. But now, things may be different: SE's freshly baked LiveView promises to offer a generous set of features -- alongside your Android 2.x device -- while going a little easier on your wallet.

PlayStation Phone espied in Greece, said to have Gingerbread and 4-inch screen (video)

It's quite fitting for a device that's purportedly codenamed Zeus to make its first video appearance somewhere in the wilds of Greece. What we have here is the apparent full motion debut of Sony Ericsson's big crossover device, the PlayStation Phone , one half portable gaming console, one half Android smartphone. Unfortunately, we never see it flexing out its slider to reveal that delicious control pad , but judging from its curves and little design details, it does indeed look to be the real deal

Sony Ericsson faults ‘especially rigorous’ firmware testing in US for X10′s Eclair update delay on AT&T

We think this is a veiled way of passing the buck to AT&T -- but whatever it is, Sony Ericsson USA has extended an old, crusty, TimeScape-enabled olive branch to Xperia X10 owners in the States by attempting to explain what's going on with the Eclair update 'round these parts. Basically, the company says that getting an update out in the US is way harder than it is elsewhere because of "the technical requirements that must be met" over which Sony Ericsson has "no control." The blame is levied on an "especially rigorous" testing cycle that can (and presumably, often does) take several months, which is why they've thus far refused to offer guidance on when the update will be released.

Symbian boss steps down effective immediately

Citing "personal reasons," the Symbian Foundation has just announced that executive director Lee Williams has left the company -- yes, "left," as in he's not going to stick around for a while to manage a transition. Williams has been steeped in Symbian for some time, having previously led Nokia's S60 business -- but the dude's been floating around the upper ranks of the entire mobile industry for ages, doing time with Motorola (through its Symbol acquisition) and Palm / PalmSource by way of Be. He's been replaced by the organization's reigning CFO, Tim Holbrow, and it appears that the appointment is permanent; what this means for Symbian's roadmap (if anything) is unclear, but we'd love to hear the backstory on what led to this power shift

White Samsung Fascinate and Sony Ericsson X10 joining Dell Streak in Best Buy this month

Let's be real: almost every phone looks better in white . Okay, so that's strictly a matter of personal opinion -- but if you're a white phone kind of person, turn your attention away from the forever-delayed iPhone 4 and toward a couple that are launching shortly thanks to some new details from Best Buy

Sony Ericsson’s LiveView Android device plays nice with an FCC ruler, gets rumored price and date

We're still trying to decide if a postage stamp-sized secondary display for your Android smartphone that you can wear as a wristwatch is a piece of genius or just a misguided widget that became a real gadget when it got kissed by a fairy in a dream. It's looking like we'll get to find out soon, as Sony Ericsson's little LiveView remote/watch has just hurdled over the FCC's measuring device and, according to Le Journal du Geek , will be shipping in November with a price of 59 euros.

Sony Ericsson’s CEO promises ‘big surprises in the next few months’ (video)

The grand opening of Sony Ericsson's new Americas HQ in Atlanta isn't the sort of thing we spend sleepless nights thinking about, but a PSP Phone is . It's mighty encouraging, therefore, to hear the company's CEO Bert Nordberg tease "big surprises" coming from his team over the next few months
