I am seeking an android phone for verizon, but am aware that new software will be coming out soon which may require new hardware… Is it worth waiting a few months for new models to come out or are there any models worth buying right now?
I wanted to start developing one or two android applications, themes or software.
I was just wondering if theres anything specific i need to read,or new software i need to learn.
Obviously im looking to make something really simple.
Thanks

AMOLED shortage to become a surplus in 2011
Samsung's beautiful Super AMOLED panels are becoming more and more common in mobile devices, but they're not as common as they could be if there were more of the things flying out of Samsung Mobile Display factories. Predictably that's set to change in 2011, with SMD planning to fulfill its promise and bring another production facility online, while other competitors in Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore will ramp up their own AMOLED facilities in the coming year. Meanwhile, China is said to be working on its OLED supply chain as well, meaning those displays of the passive matrix variety will also be flying off of assembly lines soon

Nokia E72 ‘White Edition’ pops up in Singapore — in white, obviously
Look, we've got nothing against the E72 in Amethyst, Zodium Black, Metal Grey, or Topaz Brown -- but we also know that choice is almost always a good thing, which is why it brings us such great joy to learn that there's an official white version floating around. It's not mentioned on Nokia's main site, but a quick visit to a Singapore-based contest that seems to have official Nokia ties clearly touts a white E72 and throws in an accessorized picture of it for good measure. It's said to be bundled as a special "White Edition" with a BH-216 Bluetooth headset and WH-205 wired headset and will retail for $327 when it launches "worldwide" later this month, so we'll be standing by for more announcements in sundry locales

Samsung Apps coming to four more countries
The mobile component of Samsung's app download portal, Samsung Apps , is taking a bold leap this month into four more territories: Singapore, Germany, Brazil, and China. Users of the Omnia II and Omnia Lite in those parts can download the Apps installer from Sammy's site, setting up a one-stop shop on the phone for game downloads (well, not just games, but there are a lot of games in there) over 3G and WiFi connections -- heck, even 2G connections will apparently work, which probably explains why they're going to effectively be able to take it to China right now.
