Swiftkey Android keyboard goes HD, adds new tongues and improved language prediction

Even the most loyal Android user is bound to kvetch about the stock keyboard at some point or another, and while Swype has definitely grabbed the hearts of a good many Froyo users, Swiftkey remains our third-party keyboard of choice. After escaping beta just a few months ago, TouchType has just outed an 'HD' build that's designed to cope with many of the higher-resolution displays being used on today's gargantuan Android phones. Moreover, we're guessing that this was done to look a bit better on devices like the Galaxy Tab , and there's no denying that the new design elements are a real step forward.

Videocon’s Ducati-branded V6200 handset probably isn’t as awesome as the real thing

Can't afford to put the primal growl of a Ducati 1198R Corse superbike in your garage? Well, consider this the consolation prize: the Italian motorcycle firm has teamed up with Videocon in India to release the V6200 candybar, a rather rugged-looking little beast that features an integrated compass, thermometer, barometer, altimeter, pedometer (thanks to an accelerometer, naturally), GPS, and a UV meter -- in other words, every kind of sensor you could possibly want, and then some

LG LU3000 quietly shows up, bests Galaxy S in YouTube test

Word on the street is that this 3.8-inch Android 2.2 monster with an IPS display was shown off by LG at KES 2010 a few weeks ago -- the same Korean event that brought us a 70-inch multitouch table , by the way -- and it's just now making the rounds with some real-world demonstrations of what it can do. Granted, comparing YouTube load times between the LU3000 (pictured left), a Samsung Galaxy S , and an iPhone 4 isn't really the best way to prove that you're packing serious firepower under the good, but to LG's credit, the phone apparently features TI's newish OMAP3630 core clocked at 1GHz (the same processor used in the Droid 2 )

T-Mobile myTouch 4G review

Coming hot on the heels of the ultra-impressive G2 , T-Mobile has returned to its myTouch series with the myTouch 4G. While the G2 is the natural enthusiast flagship, the 4G represents a flagship in its own right of a skinned, curated Android experience.

HTC Desire HD rendered, looks pretty legit to us — oh, except for that WinMo UI

The stars are really aligning for this shindig HTC has scheduled in London for next week, aren't they? All signs point to the launch of the Android-powered Desire Z and Desire HD -- international versions of the G2 and EVO , respectively -- and this render pulled off of German site BestBoyZ matches up perfectly with in-the-wild shots we've seen of the HD before. The only sticking point, really, is that there's a Windows Mobile 6.5 Sense UI shot inexplicably plastered on top, which makes about as much sense as...

Apple’s Steve Jobs: ‘no one’s going to buy’ a big phone

In response to a question at its press conference today about whether Apple could've done anything to avoid its antenna issues with the iPhone 4, Steve took the opportunity to rip on bigger rivals, saying that making a phone so big " you can't get your hand around it" helps, but that "no one's going to buy that." We're assuming he's likely talking about the latest crop of 4-, 4.3- and 5-inch phones that include the Galaxy S series, the EVO 4G , Droid X , and Dell Streak , even going so far as to call them "Hummers" (we take it you don't ever drive a Hummer, Steve?). Though ripping on the competition is to be expected, perhaps the more interesting takeaway here is that we can't realistically expect an iPhone much bigger than the 3.5-inch display they use today -- presumably that'll all be reserved for iPad territory going forward
