Meizu M9 ripped apart, out flies a Hummingbird processor

You’ve seen Jack Wong’s baby from every angle and taken a deep dive through the UI — now, feast your eyes on the juicy silicon insides. Forumgoers at gadget portal 163.com and Soomal cracked open the Retina Display-wielding device this week, and there’s a good bit to see. Sure enough, there’s the 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird we were promised, some TriQuint communication chips, and a lot of tiny covers on a fairly stacked little board. Check out our source and more coverage links for the full teardown; you’ll find plenty more pics where this one came from.

I have a DVD disc for my business that I would like to burn to my Android phone so I can show clients. I believe on Android devices I have to convert the video to an mp4 (not totally sure). I used VLP player to burn the DVD to my documents and now want to convert and transfer to my phone. Thanks for your help!

I’m looking for a way to get the paid apps for free on an android phone like you can with a jailbroken iphone. Any suggestions?

LG Optimus 2X coming to T-Mobile USA by March?

When the Optimus 2X was announced a few days ago, North America was conspicuously left out of the nebulous launch plans mentioned in the press release -- but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not coming. RCR Wireless says it has it on "rather good authority" that LG's beastly Tegra 2 -powered Android phone will in fact see a US launch, and that said launch will be on T-Mobile in late February (which would be right after MWC ) or early March.

LG invents imaginary 1GHz processor requirement to say Optimus One won’t get Gingerbread

So here's the story: dude asks LG's US mobile team on Facebook when the Optimus One -- the basis for the various Optimus devices that have launched recently on American carriers -- will be getting Android 2.3 . LG responds saying that "the minimum requirements for Gingerbread require 1 GHz processor," hence, no update's in the cards. Well, Android lead Dan Morrill took to Twitter to drop some knowledge, saying "there's no hard minimum processor requirement for Gingerbread...

LG Optimus S for Sprint, first hands-on!

The low-end Android game just got real, folks, with Sprint's introduction of the LG Optimus S, a $50 (on-contract, post-rebate) Android slatephone running Froyo on a 3.2-inch HVGA screen, with mobile hotspot functionality for up to five devices, 802.11 b/g WiFi and a 600MHz processor to run the whole shebang. As you'd expect in a world of 1GHz smartphones at the $200 price point, it's not quite up to spec, but that doesn't keep it from having a super-solid build, durable and weighty, that belies its low price.

HTC Vision with Android, full QWERTY in the wild?

For reasons seemingly known only to Peter Chou himself, HTC has mostly steered clear of producing high-quality physical QWERTY devices running Android, despite the fact that there might be no phone manufacturer in the world more skilled at making them (let us remind you of the Touch Pro2 , among many others dating back the better part of a decade). Anyhow, we caught wind last month of a possible entry in the form of the so-called "Vision," but we didn't have any visuals -- just a user agent profile that may or may not amount to anything
