Bootlace lets you install Froyo on your iPhone without a computer

It may not solve some of the problems involved with actually running Android on an iPhone , but the recently released Bootlace 2.1 application for jailbroken iPhones does at least make the installation process easier than ever. Unfortunately, it only works with the iPhone 2G and 3G at the moment, but it will let you install Android 2.2 (a.k.a Froyo ) directly on the device without the need for a computer.

Verizon dishes on Fascinate’s problems — internally, anyway

Rest assured this information was never meant to make it into the public eye (not all in one place, anyway), and from Verizon's perspective, there's a good reason for that -- if you've got a Fascinate , you just know you're going to be looking out for all these bugs now that you might not have noticed otherwise. Sorry to turn you into a nervous wreck, owners, but let's have a look at some of the bigger problems Big Red has its eye on in Sammy's latest incarnation of the Galaxy S : GPS lock latency is said to be abnormally long with no workaround available ( sound familiar? ), pressing the Search button while on a call can hang you up, calendar alerts can't be changed, and the backlighting on the bottom keys is fixed at five seconds -- something we'd complained about on other versions of the phone but is conveniently tied to the keyboard backlight settings on the Epic 4G .

MIT app turns your Android phone into a supercomputer… of sorts

Oh, sure -- a few people have called Google's Nexus One a "superphone," but suddenly, that nickname has taken on a whole new level of meaning. A team of talent from MIT has put its head down in order to concoct a new Android application that can come darn close to solving complex computational problems in just a fraction of the time that it'd take a bona fide supercomputer

The white iPhone 4 will ship at the end of July

It's become the stuff of legend over the past few weeks, but if you've been holding out for a white iPhone 4, well, today's not your lucky day -- but Apple's now saying it'll ship by the end of July. That's later than the previously announced middle of July ship date, but we're going to keep believing that when it does arrive, it'll be the answer to all of our problems

AT&T data down across the Southeast, Puerto Rico?

This hasn't exactly been a banner week for wireless uptime; Sprint , AT&T , and Verizon have all seen some trouble over the course of the past few days, and now we're getting tipped that AT&T data services are down once again in the Southeast. Last time, the problems seemed limited to Florida, but now we're hearing that customers spanning from Atlanta to Louisiana are having trouble -- and even Puerto Rico has apparently been pulled into the mess. What's everyone seeing out there

Verizon looking at non-unlimited plans for 4G data, will use LTE for voice by 2012

We'd not-so-secretly hoped that carriers would be looking to dispense with those troublesome 5GB caps on so-called "unlimited" 3G data plans, but there's a big problem with that: spectrum is still limited, and even though 4G technologies help use it more efficiently, it's still a constraint that the FCC is going to need many years to solve. We're not sure how much the spectrum crunch really factors in here, but in addition to his comments on Droid Incredible inventory problems , Verizon Wireless boss Lowell McAdam mentioned at a Barclays Capital conference this week that he hopes to move away from unlimited plans altogether for the company's LTE network, instead charging for "buckets" of megabytes, just like in the olden days -- despite the fact that it'll cost it a half to a third of what it costs today to transmit the same amount of data. On a happier note, McAdam said that the company expects to be using its LTE network for voice by 2012, which comes just after its first volley of LTE-capable handsets in early 2011

If an expired visa is linked to your Nexus card, can you still travel with it with no problems?

I wanted to emigrate to the United States and decided to give up my application for change of status. The fact is that I had a K-3 visa that was tied to my Nexus card. If I travel by bus or car from Vancouver to Seattle that cause problems if I use my NEXUS card?
