Dell confirms protected WiFi problems, mislabeled batteries on the three Venue Pros sold so far
If you detected a hint of anger in our headline, please forgive us, but we're sure many of you are going through the same rollercoaster of emotions -- after all, Dell's lovely portrait QWERTY Venue Pro has only been sold in ridiculously limited quantities through Microsoft's seven retail stores so far, making them virtually impossible to buy for most of us. Anyhow, in the event you were lucky enough to get one, you'll be pleased to know that Dell is aware of the problems you might be having connecting to secure WiFi networks, and the next batch won't be afflicted -- which might explain why they haven't offered a steady stream of devices through the stores this week

Samsung Focus having microSD issues, AT&T not installing cards in-store (updated)
The Samsung Focus 's microSD slot has always been an odd little blip on the spec sheet, since it's only kinda-sorta supported by Windows Phone 7 , and now it looks like it's causing more trouble than it's worth: Paul Thurrot says AT&T's telling employees not to install anything in the slot because of reliability issues, and that Microsoft is working on the problem.

Samsung rolls out JI6 update to fix Vibrant GPS issues
It's a tad later than initially promised , but it looks like Vibrant users frustrated by those serious GPS issues will soon have a fix -- Samsung has just announced that it's begun rolling out the JI6 over-the-air update to remedy the problem and finally bring it in line with the Captivate . No word on what else the update might include and, as with all OTA updates, there's also no guarantee as to exactly when you'll get it, with Samsung only saying that it will be distributed randomly over the next "several weeks." [Thanks to everyone who sent this in] Samsung rolls out JI6 update to fix Vibrant GPS issues originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 07 Oct 2010 13:36:00 EST.

Verizon dishes on Fascinate’s problems — internally, anyway
Rest assured this information was never meant to make it into the public eye (not all in one place, anyway), and from Verizon's perspective, there's a good reason for that -- if you've got a Fascinate , you just know you're going to be looking out for all these bugs now that you might not have noticed otherwise. Sorry to turn you into a nervous wreck, owners, but let's have a look at some of the bigger problems Big Red has its eye on in Sammy's latest incarnation of the Galaxy S : GPS lock latency is said to be abnormally long with no workaround available ( sound familiar? ), pressing the Search button while on a call can hang you up, calendar alerts can't be changed, and the backlighting on the bottom keys is fixed at five seconds -- something we'd complained about on other versions of the phone but is conveniently tied to the keyboard backlight settings on the Epic 4G .

Dual SIM iPhone 4 case gives your multiple personality disorder a new lease on life
Sure, there are any number of phones with dual SIM card slots , most of them built for Asian markets, but the iPhone 4 is about the furthest thing from dual SIM: in fact, it doesn't even have one Big Person SIM to call its own. Luckily, USBFever has a hacktastic solution to this problem (a followup to their iPhone 3G version ), with a new $30 case that can host dual full size SIM cards on the back of an iPhone 4 (entombed in some classy clear plastic, naturally), while running an adapter to the iPhone 4's micro SIM slot. You can then switch between the two SIMs from the iPhone's own settings menu, though unfortunately you can't rock both SIMs simultaneously.

AT&T having HSPA upload speed problems in some markets
There's now a rather meaty thread on Mac Rumors ' forums detailing problems that iPhone 4 users have had with miserably slow upload speeds in HSPA-equipped AT&T markets -- speeds that had in some cases been well over 1Mbps before the holiday weekend but have since fallen to 100kbps or lower. A popular theory is that AT&T decided to cap speeds in light of the iPhone 4's success and the danger it poses to network oversaturation, but we're not buying it -- 100kbps is ridiculously slow for an HSUPA-enabled network, even a heavily-used one, and there are huge markets (LA, for example) that seemingly aren't affected.

Apple patches iOS 4 Exchange issue
It hasn't gotten quite the attention of the iPhone 4's antenna problems or its proximity sensor troubles , but iOS 4 has caused some heartbreak for corporate users who connect to Exchange servers -- checking mail or syncing contact and calendars can stall out interminably, with no option but to restart and try again. We've definitely had this problem ourselves, but happily Apple's right on the case with this one -- iOS 4 users who need to get their Exchange on can download an updated configuration file that seems to make things better. The new settings don't seem to do much other than increase iOS 4's idle timeout, but if it works, it works -- and in our limited testing things appear to be going swimmingly
