Motorola ‘Stadia’ trademark application hints at device with gaming / fitness features
It's not exactly a ton to go on, but a trademark application recently filed by Motorola for the word "Stadia" has at least opened up a few interesting possibilities. While the (as yet nonexistent) device in question is seemingly phone-related given the goods and services Motorola is hoping to have covered, the application also specifically mentions a "game device in the nature of handheld units for playing electronic games for use with external display screen or monitor," along with a number of fitness-related functions like heart rate, speed, and calorie monitoring. That latter bit is further backed up by a separate "Stadia" trademark application filed by Motorola back in November, which specifically covered "fitness monitoring devices." What does it all mean

What is the Jawbone ‘Nerd Dongle’?
Aliph is a company known for producing its line of Jawbone Bluetooth headsets -- emphasis on "headsets." So when we see a product in the FCC from Aliph with Jawbone branding described as the "Nerd Dongle" and looking a whole lot like a USB stick, you can imagine that our curiosity is piqued a bit. From the test report, it seems there's a lot of testing going on in the 2.4GHz range, which would be indicative of either Bluetooth or WiFi... most likely Bluetooth, if we had to bet.

Apple patent application details instant product research via iPhone, more NFC possibilities
Past Apple patent applications have already offered some evidence that the company is at least thinking about NFC-enhanced apps on the iPhone, and a recently published application has now tossed out one more possible application: instant product research. That would apparently be done using either NFC (or near field communication) or a simple barcode scan, which would let you easily access product reviews, user manuals and other information about products before you purchase them -- the application even includes the example of an NFC-enabled restaurant menu that would let you check nutritional information before you order

If you haven't freaked out and given up on MiFi after they were shown to be, well, a little bit vulnerable , good for you, because there's good things in store. Novatel is working on a new revision of its routers with integrated GPS, USB charging, and what's pledged to be better battery life. Perhaps most interesting among the revisions is firmware able to run Linux "apps" that display content within the MiFi's admin webpage.

Cellphones, whether they be smart or dumb , are pretty amazing things -- but they're pretty lifeless things, too. Design researcher Fabian Hemmert thinks that our gadgets could move us a little more if only they could, well, move.
