Shocker: Verizon says Droid Eris won’t get Froyo

Though the HTC Droid Eris soldiers on in user pockets in a variety of guises , Verizon has unsurprisingly decided to disavow future updates for the canceled device . Carrier spokespersons told Computerworld that the Eris won't see Android 2.2.

Apple starts refunding Bumper purchases automagically

Automatic refunds, or so the email says. We've been on the receiving end of a deluge of tips this morning pointing out that Apple has begun funneling cash back into its users' pockets -- a most unusual event, to be sure -- to live up to its retroactive promise of free Bumpers for all (who buy their iPhone 4 before September 30). If the particular wording is to be trusted, that should mean that even those who haven't yet bothered to put in a claim, but did purchase a Bumper, will find themselves enriched in due course.

HTC EVO 4G sold out pretty much everywhere

It's being widely reported that the HTC EVO 4G is sold out all over the US -- at brick and mortars and online. And while we can't 100 percent certain that Sprint doesn't have a few hidden away in some of the less traversed pockets of this great land, the fact that they're selling out shouldn't come as a huge shocker. The phone overtook the Palm Pre to become Sprint's best-selling launch day ever , though we don't have an actual number of units moved

CE-Oh no he didn’t!: Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki thinks cameraphones are about to make SLRs obsolete

From what we know of Anssi Vanjoki, he's a great guy and one that isn't afraid of admitting his company's mistakes . Alas, now we can also add to that dossier the ignominious fact that the fella doesn't seem to know how professional cameras work

Motorola i1 first hands-on!

We're shmoozing with Motorola's team and Mike Rowe -- yes, the Dirty Jobs guy, who's been fittingly selected as the rugged i1's spokesperson -- and we're starting to get our first fleeting moments with Motorola's first Android-powered iDEN handset in the flesh. Believe it or not, it might be the best-feeling Android phone from Motorola to date, besting the CLIQ XT and Droid with a tasteful mix of black chrome and rubber around the edges; if it weren't for the lack of bona fide 3G, we could realistically see putting this in our pockets over, say, a myTouch 3G , Hero , or Behold II . We've been able to confirm that they've basically taken the UI look and feel introduced by Blur and subtracted...

Bad news: HTC says the Nexus One doesn’t ‘go in pockets’

One of the biggest mysteries in the blogosphere right now is probably Crave's Nexus One , which somehow developed a cracked screen while simply charging on the desk (sounds familiar, right ?). Not even HTC could unearth the cause from its forensic inspection, but it didn't rule out the possibility of a small crack growing over time due to, for example, "getting knocked around by keys" and repetitive squeezes in tight pockets.

Is the splc really out to help illegal aliens or to line their pockets?

SPLC loses $ 50 million. The bad news: $ PLC can afford permettrePatrick Cleburne, Vdara. COM (April 8, 2009) Those of us who know and like the Southern Poverty Law Center [SPLC, or more exactly, in Vdara. com considered opinion, a controller of dollars] were naturally curious to see the victim, if this would be rich in a Ponzi scheme Madoff Bernard. . . Immigration Patriotes are particularly interested in the $ PLC [SPLC] because of his obsession with the mistakes of the past almost every group of immigration reform in sight. This includes names such as “hate group” not only Vdara. COM (who responded with the appointment of CLP $ a “betrayal Group”), but also the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the controller requested is $ absurd “the crossroads of the anti-American immigration “with FAIR also sure colleagues Beltway herbivores, NumbersUSA and the Center for Immigration Studies. This new PLC $ obsession is strange, because, of course, the post-1965 influx of unskilled immigrants, legal and illegal, all that can be said on this subject, it was a disaster for low-income blacks who were the historical concern PLC $. The labor leader Cesar Chavez (ironically a hero sum PLC) have clearly seen this dynamic in the case of his farm workers at that time largely born Hispanics. Therefore industries blacks Howard applauded the ICE raid last year on their employeur.Plaintes, even to the left at the $ PLC [Southern Poverty Law Center] lack of interest in black and “civil rights” issues, extreme interest and money go back at least to Ken Silverstein’s classic The Church of Morris Dees Magazine (Harper’s, November 2000) and JoAnn Wypijewski fierce defense of his criticism of the $ PLC to ignore local causes in his article in the magazine Black Nation Back to the back of the bus (December 2000). Form The PLC’s $ 990 (PDF) that the tax exempt charities must file the IRS, and its audited financial statements (PDF) are now available for the fiscal year ending October 2008. And the answer Madoff, no luck. Our friends apparently escaped indemne.Mais as the $ PLC reach to resist the temptation of so-called “Jewish T-Bill”, an operation that cost to produce makes it relatively moderate but very consistent over the years? Not interesting for the $ PLC as a charity prudent 501 (c) (3)-as has been tragically so many others, and retirees as well as the Jews?. Of course, the investment objective did not cause the PLC to support $ $ 51. 2 million “investment” losses during the closing 10-31-08. But this left a few dollars PLC $ 167. 8 million of total assets in the portfolio at year end. And the implied about 30. 5% loss for the year 2008 is no exception. The S & P 500 has lost 37. 5% over the same period. (Of course, this makes the questionable assumption that it was prudent to $ CLP to be exposed to securities, rather than less volatile securities such as bonds or money market instruments). In essence, the balance sheet of $ PLC seems that one could imagine a former partner of Goldman Sachs: the ownership and working capital, as well as a large portfolio of investment sophistiqués.En of 10-31-08, the PLC Show $ 35. 6 million (18. 5% of its assets) in a sort of bank account, called “operating funds”, which contains, curiously, all physical activities, including $ 16. 9 million of real estate depreciation (apparently not just for yacht!) This fund “operation” includes a joint investment of $ 11. 6 million, which lost $ 1. 2 million were incurred in fiscal ’08. Suppose that is the direction dabbling / fun.Le account balance consists of an investment portfolio amounting to $ 156. 2 million 10-31 08. This is called the “Endowment Fund”. It ‘important to understand that under the $ PLC’s financial statements, there is virtually no restriction on the bottom. In the world of love This is not what is commonly understood by a grant “, which is usually dedicated to specific uses, and often limited to spending only the income. Borochoff like Daniel, president of the American Institute of Philanthropy, said a Bill O’Reilly in 2001: “We want to strengthen their reserves, as you would probably want to be a millionaire, so he could live for a pension … This is not really a budget [only] because the board, calls it. “(See NPI / SPLC Report II, PP17-18) Evidence of view of strategy Borochoff dollars were PLC in 2008. The allocations are generally used over the years bad for operating costs. But the PLC value transferred 4 million dollars on its “operation of the Fund” for his “Endowment Fund” last year, a clear demonstration of the sense of Scrooge, as priorités.C ‘is when you examine the details of the “Endowment Fund” that the heroic devotion for the $ PLC earn money becomes obvious. P14 Financial statements revealed that about $ 156. 2 million: $ 20. 7 million (13. 3%) was “
