Dialog Semiconductor pushes 2D to 3D conversion chip for phones and tablets
We'll go ahead and put a lid on your swelling excitement level, most likely with two simple words: " parallax barrier ." You see, Dialog Semiconductor's DA8223 is being hailed as the world's first real time 2D to 3D video conversion chip for portable devices, but it requires a parallax barrier display. On the upside, that means that there are no glasses required for viewing, and pretty much any 2D content could be tricked into being 3D for the viewer; the downside, of course, is that it probably won't immerse your senses, overwhelm your eyes or otherwise revolutionize your life

Android Market surpasses 100,000 apps: can’t stop, won’t stop growing
Ah, there we go. Right around three months after we falsely suspected that El Goog had crossed the 100,000 mark in its Android Market, the company itself has today confirmed the passing of that line via Twitter

T-Mobile’s second quarter: revenue up, but customers still leaving
The good news for T-Mobile USA is that it seems to be moving upmarket thanks to a huge push into the smartphone space with devices like the HD2 and the myTouch 3G Slide -- enough of a push, in fact, so that it recorded slightly higher revenues in the second quarter of 2010 both year-over-year and against the first quarter ($5.36 billion in total). The bad news, though, is that it continues to lose customers -- roughly 93,000 this time around, 16,000 worse than the 77,000 it shed in the first three months of the year. Indeed, ARPUs were generally up over the first quarter, with data revenue up a whopping 18 percent against the second quarter of 2009; blended ARPU was down year-over-year, though, likely accounting at least in part for the $180 million decline in net income over the same period.

OpenGL 4.1 spec finalized, streamlines 3D graphics for web and phones
Only four months after OpenGL 4.0 hit the scene , the next revision of the cross-platform graphics API is here, bearing gifts of fancier math and more cribbed DirectX 11 features. Unless you're a graphics guru, though, we doubt you'll be that interested in "64-bit floating-point component vertex shader inputs," so let's get to the meat of what you're after: impressive 3D gaming. OpenGL 4.1 promises to help deliver that to cellphones easier than ever before, by making OpenGL ES ( used in iOS and Android , depending on your hardware) completely compatible with the desktop graphics version, and promises "features to improve robustness" in WebGL 3D browser acceleration as well.

Motorola’s rugged i1 coming to Sprint: July 25 for $150 on contract
A solid four months after first seeing thing plastered across half of Las Vegas, Motorola's i1 finally has a date with Sprint. The planet's first Android-equipped smartphone with Nextel Direct Connect will go nationwide on July 25th (via telesales and websites; all other Sprint channels will see it on August 8th), bringing military spec ruggedness, push-to-talk capabilities and a certain ability to withstand all sorts of death grips. Unfortunately, Android 1.5 is a bit of a dinosaur at this point, but it's still a heck of a lot better than that G'zOne Rock you're currently toting.

Android Market now has 100,000 apps, passes 1 billion download mark
Well, it may not come as a huge surprise considering all the steam Android 's picked up over the past few years, but it's a landmark nonetheless: according to AndroLib's data, the Market now has 100,000 apps available for download. It's also interesting to note that it took just under three months to get from 50,000 to the 100,000 mark

Samsung Intercept to replace the Moment on Sprint?
Looks like the Moment 's over for Samsung and Sprint -- check out these these leaked shots of the SPH-M910 Intercept, said to be the carrier's new mid-range Android slider. Screen size is said to be the same at 3.2 inches, and the keyboard certainly looks much nicer, but we can't help but be bummed to hear this thing will launch Froyo-free with Android 2.1 -- a 2.2 update is said to be a "high probability," but it took Samsung and Sprint some seven months to update the Moment to 2.1, so we're not holding our breath
