BlackBerry Bold 9800 slides open, shows off promising WebKit-based browser
We've known RIM has had a WebKit-based browser in its rear pocket since Mobile World Congress, and with confirmation that BlackBerry OS 6.0 would have traces of WebKit throughout, this discovery was simply inevitable. The BlackBerry Bold 9800 (polarizing design and all) has just made its most interesting appearance yet, this time showing off a purported WebKit-based web browser with a trio of tabs collected up top. Never mind the fact that whoever was using this clearly wishes he / she was browsing on an iPhone -- it's the 100/100 Acid3 test result that really titillates.

Windows Phone 7 Series: the complete guide
After Windows Phone 7 Series' grand unveiling at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress last month, Microsoft has circled back over the last several days during GDC and its own MIX10 conference to fill in many of the holes in this story -- in particular, details around the app development ecosystem and how third parties can take full advantage of it have been focal points. Of course, it makes sense: a modern smartphone is only as good as its software catalog, and Redmond's clearly keen to show that it knows how very true that is.

HTC Legend clears the FCC
We haven't heard much about much more than a rumored German price when it comes to HTC Legend availability, but the phone has now cleared the FCC, which could well indicate that it's headed over here sooner rather than later. No other details (or pictures), unfortunately, but you can dive into a few test reports at the link below if that's your thing. And if, for some reason, you've yet to be acquainted with the Legend (a.k.a.

Acer launches neoTouch P300 / P400, beTouch E110 / E400 smartphones
If you thought the (admittedly weak) Liquid e was all Acer had in store for Mobile World Congress, you'd be badly mistaken. We've got a foursome of other smartphones on tap, so we won't waste any time breaking 'em down. Up first is the neoTouch P300 and neoTouch P400, each of which ship with Windows Mobile 6.5.3

Live from Sony Ericsson’s MWC 2010 press conference
We're gearing up for Sony Ericsson's big event here at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which is being staged in the rather swank Opium nightclub -- and as long as the phones are equally swank, we'll be pleased.

Samsung Wave launching Bada onto its very first handset at MWC
There's something nice and unequivocal about a huge billboard popping up in the host city of major tradeshow, and Samsung's Wave handset is making just such an entrance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The previously unannounced handset will be running Samsung's brand new Bada platform , and appears to be a full touchscreen handset from the look of things

Intel to be part of Nokia’s MWC press conference — a new Booklet, or something more?
Well, this is interesting -- Intel just sent us an invitation to Nokia's press event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week. We're told that the two companies will update us on the "latest developments" from their relatively new relationship , before Nokia launches into its solo presser directly afterwards. That could mean pretty much anything from a ho-hum Atom N450 refresh of the Booklet 3G to a fire-breathing Moorestown Maemo 5 phone , so we're obviously extremely curious to see what goes down -- our money is on the more conservative side of things, since we're thinking Intel just wants to have a presence at MWC, but we do love to be surprised.
