LG Star struts its stuff on film, toys with an iPhone 4 (video)

We can't get enough of the world's first Tegra 2 smartphone, the LG Star , so if the 4-inch diva wants a closeup while parading about Tel Aviv, who are we to argue? GSM Israel somehow managed to obtain the same dual-core Android 2.2 handset we glimpsed earlier this afternoon , complete with 8 megapixel camera and HDMI port. Though we don't have the foggiest idea what they're saying in the video after the break, the LG-P990 certainly seems to be a speedy little machine in side-by-side webpage load tests with the fan-favorite iPhone 4, though we seem to detect a hint of hesitation when the Star's capacitive touchscreen gets brushed.

LG LU3000 quietly shows up, bests Galaxy S in YouTube test

Word on the street is that this 3.8-inch Android 2.2 monster with an IPS display was shown off by LG at KES 2010 a few weeks ago -- the same Korean event that brought us a 70-inch multitouch table , by the way -- and it's just now making the rounds with some real-world demonstrations of what it can do. Granted, comparing YouTube load times between the LU3000 (pictured left), a Samsung Galaxy S , and an iPhone 4 isn't really the best way to prove that you're packing serious firepower under the good, but to LG's credit, the phone apparently features TI's newish OMAP3630 core clocked at 1GHz (the same processor used in the Droid 2 )

Acer reveals 4.8-inch Android smartphone with 1024×480 screen resolution

Acer may be calling this "100 percent smartphone. 100 percent tablet," but something just doesn't add up there. That being said, we have to agree that a 1024x480 screen resolution on a 4.8-inch smartphone is downright drool-worthy.

Sony Ericsson’s 4.3-inch Anzu previewed: ain’t got no Gingerbread, but still looking tasty

Our hope for the recently leaked Anzu (likely to be known as the Xperia X12 at retail) handset from Sony Ericsson was that it'd be the company's Android Gingerbread flagship , but here comes international super-reviewer Eldar Murtazin popping that bubble for us. The good man from Russia has a preview unit in his secret lab and reports that it currently only runs Android 2.1, with the intention being that launch devices in early 2011 will start off with Android 2.2 before getting their Gingerbread (2.3) fix in a later update. He also notes a 4.3-inch display with 854 x 480 resolution (just an LCD, nothing exciting ), an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 (same as in the T-Mobile G2 / Desire Z ) powering things inside, and a 12 megapixel imager mounted on the back.

Cricket TXTM8 3G tries, fails to include entire alphabet in name

It may not be quite as adorable as its 3G-less predecessor , but Cricket's TXTM8 3G is likely to find an audience just the same -- people love the portrait QWERTY form factor, after all. The phone features a 2.2-inch QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, stereo Bluetooth, web browser, and -- as the name implies -- support for EV-DO Rev. 0 data.

Unlocked GSM Palm Pre 2 to be ‘available direct from HP,’ Gorilla Glass on the front

We've been toying with a Palm Pre 2 for a few weeks now, but given that it's not "final hardware," we can't exactly make any firm judgments on the unit itself.

Samsung Omnia 7 brings 4-inch Super AMOLED screen to Windows Phone 7… a little early

Boy, there's hardly been enough time to catch our breath and analyze the first unintentionally official Windows Phone 7 handset in the form of LG's Optimus 7 , yet Samsung is already joining the fray with its own Omnia 7 . Currently populating its very own landing page on Samsung's Russian site, the Omnia 7 is a 4-inch Super AMOLED beastie with a rather aged 1GHz Qualcomm QSD8250 at its core, 8GB of storage, and a 5 megapixel cam that can do 720p video.

Nokia N8 vs. iPhone 4: camera showdown

What's the first thing you should do when you get the N8 ? Considering it packs the biggest image sensor embedded in a phone yet, Carl Zeiss optics, and an eight-digit pixel count, it seemed obvious to us that the answer was to take it on a picture- and video-taking stroll around London
