Android 2.3 SDK revealed, Gingerbread improvements called out
And finally, here it is! Android 2.3 -- perhaps better known as Gingerbread -- is now official, bringing a host of tweaks that should get the Android faithful pretty stoked. Most notably, the new build is being called out as significantly better for game development, tying in nicely with all these Sony Ericsson rumors we've been hearing as of late. Also on deck is tightly-integrated VoIP support, video calling support via a front camera, better cut-and-paste, NFC integration, gyroscope support for more accurate orientation data, an improved download manager, a redesigned keyboard with multitouch support, and an integrated task manager

DoubleTwist adds some polish to Android with new media player app
Peruse the Android Market this morrow and you might come across a hot new addition from the folks at DoubleTwist. That's right, the iTunes-aping desktop sync manager has gone native on the Android platform and early feedback on its media player implementation has been positive. The free music and video player app does that whole seamless thing quite well, apparently, interfacing directly with your Windows or Mac computerino and porting over relevant playlists, ratings and media

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide official: Android 2.1, QWERTY, coming in June (we go hands-on)
Hey, CLIQ , better check that rear-view mirror, because you've got an interesting competitor coming right up on your tail. T-Mobile is launching another midrange Android QWERTY slider -- some might argue the G1's true successor -- christened the myTouch 3G Slide (not quite the "myTouch Slide" we've been hearing for a few months) with a 3.4-inch HVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, and a pretty heavily-customized skin based on Android 2.1 . How custom are we talking, exactly

Verizon FiOS DVR Manager ensures you’ll never miss an episode of iCarly… ‘evar’
America has spoken (at least the TV-addicted, iPhone owning segment) and the cry is being heard: they want to control their DVRs from their handset! The Verizon FiOS DVR Manager sounds pretty straightforward: set your DVR! Set parental controls! Bookmark, browse, search TV programming, and more! And all from your iPhone. (Of course, plenty of Android users have been doing this for a while now .) Kind of makes that old iTunes-based media management system seem a little weak sauce, doesn't it

Apple job posting hints at LTE for a future iPhone?
What could possibly come after the iPhone 3GS? The iPhone 3GSS, of course! Joking aside, turns out Apple 's already dropped the 4G bomb on one of its job postings in May 2009 while seeking for a "Cellular Technology Software Manager" with "expert knowledge of..

Microsoft: Windows Phone 7 series ‘will not initially offer copy and paste,’ case-specific actions integrated into OS
Here you go, folks, an official statement from Redmond itself on the perennial Windows Phone 7 Series / copy-and-paste discussion . First and foremost, from the onset, there will be no copy and paste in the traditional sense; Microsoft is hoping to bypass the issue by integrating into the OS contextual, single-tap instances for viewing an address on a map (let's hope it has some good recognition algorithms here), doing Bing searches based on highlighted terms, dial a phone number, and so on. But the book isn't entirely closed here, apparently, as the statement goes on to say the company "will continue to improve our feature set over time based on what we hear." We've also got a statement regarding the hacked emulator , to which a representative told us, "we have been very clear that [it] is based on early code and is not reflective of the final user experience," which is a nice way of saying don't get your hopes up on those fun little surprises (task manager, anyone?)

What is wrong with this interview process and is the general manager the nexus of the weirdness?
I applied for a job at a Whole Foods. Went to a group interview which was the first one. Then was called back the next day for a second one on one interview with the female general manager. It was set for the following monday. I show up then, ironed and prepared only to find I am met with confusion and people scrambling around the office to find someone to interview me because the GM is too busy with something else. Finally, they put some floor manager on the spot and throw him in to interview me. It was a mess. He seemed confused, as was I.
GM provided a list of departments to offer me which were none of the ones I listed on the one they asked me to complete in the first interview. In fact, she put one of the ones I listed as least likely to want-Deli. I am vegan.
I called the director after the disorganized interview and she set up a THIRD interview with the GM, on a Saturday morning. This one even better. The GM had to be reminded by the front person what time it was supposed to be for. She rushed over, barely gave eye contact to me, and said, let me go get your application-which took 3 minutes as she is ordering coffee for herself on the phone. She burst in the conference room, still no eye contact, and says, “Okay, you’re looking for a college job. Which I never put into that context. Leaves and again pawns off interview on someone else. But announces to him before departing, we need to set her up with a college job! The interview with him took all of 9 minutes and he said he would call me Monday. I think he saw my dejection after she left so there was little embellishment on my part.
I find a message on my phone the next day from the herbal supplement department manager stating that she is interested in talking to me about working in her department, and that a couple of the manager are interested in the store when I was told of only 2 department options, given by the GM-as what the director said was her “vision for me. ”
I don’t understand what is going on. I am 29. I am a veteran of the Coast Guard and have finished my BA this Summer. People were happy about my application and it seems like she is trying to sabotage my opportunity there but can’t find a reason to tell the other managers not to hire me
