Earlier today, we got a complete demo and some seat time with the Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T at Motorola’s CES event, including its HD multimedia dock and laptop dock. The phone looks similar to the Samsung Vibrant, but with a black screen bezel and a tastefully patterned matte back cover. Build quality is very good, as we’d expect from a Motorola device. The QHD (960 x 540) display is gorgeous and the phone feels ultra snappy, thanks to the dual-core processor running Froyo. In fact, despite still running preliminary firmware, we recorded a blazing 2,616 score on the Quadrant test. The power button at the top back of the Atrix 4G also serves as a fingerprint reader, and there’s a dual-LED flash flanking the 5 megapixel camera. Check out the gallery below and read on for the details — and the complete demo on video — after the break.

It’s still not an actual product just yet, but upstart Snaptick has given Crave an early look at its eponymously-named internet TV system, which it says will challenge the likes of Google TV and Apple TV. The company’s hook is that it simply delivers the “full web” to your TV, which can be controlled using either your phone or a laptop. In the case of the company’s iPhone app, you can actually flick content from your iPhone to the TV, and even have multiple people control the same TV with their respective iPhones. Things get a bit more complicated when it comes to the actual device, though. It seems the company still isn’t sure what form it will take — it could be a separate set-top box like the prototype above, or it could be built-in into a Blu-ray player or TV. Given that state of things, it shouldn’t come as much surprise that there’s no indication of a price or release date, but the company is now accepting applications for a private beta, and you can get an idea of what might be in store in the video after the break.

So how do Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Clear, and Rover stack up? Let’s break it down.

If you dream of turning your shiny new G2 into a hot, molten mess of plastic, aluminum, epoxy, and shattered dreams, attempting to clock it faster than your laptop is a solid start. A new kernel floating around xda-developers pegs the G2 at a mind-numbing 1.9GHz, nearly two and a half times over the processor’s stock speed of 800MHz. The developer says “it gets a little warm,” which may very well mean it will leave you with third-degree burns all over your hand, face, and / or outer thigh, depending on where the phone happens to be. But yeah, we kid… hopefully.

Hold on to your Foleos , folks, because it looks like Palm still hasn't given up on the idea of a little laptop that pairs with a phone for wireless communications. However, where that former ( failed ) experiment called for entirely disparate hardware, here the relationship between the two would be rather more formal. In a patent filed in April and just dug up by Unwired View , Palm describes a "compact removable voice handset" and an "integrated palmtop computer." The two can communicate wirelessly, but more interestingly they can be coupled such that "there is minimal increase to the overall size and weight" of the palmtop -- in other words, the "phone" bit isn't particularly large, making it more comfortable to hold up to your face in a conversation than your Streaks and the like

Hold on to your Foleos, folks, because it looks like Palm still hasn’t given up on the idea of a little laptop that pairs with a phone for wireless communications. However, where that former (failed) experiment called for entirely disparate hardware, here the relationship between the two would be rather more formal. In a patent filed in April and just dug up by Unwired View, Palm describes a “compact removable voice handset” and an “integrated palmtop computer.” The two can communicate wirelessly, but more interestingly they can be coupled such that “there is minimal increase to the overall size and weight” of the palmtop — in other words, the “phone” bit isn’t particularly large, making it more comfortable to hold up to your face in a conversation than your Streaks and the like. Is there actually any hardware behind this application or is this just Palm daydreaming about a Foleo 2? We’ll all just have to wait and find out.

So, you’ve either purchased a Streak, or you’re anxiously awaiting your own here in the US. Fantastic. Now what? If you’ve just over $100 to spend and even a pinch of smarts, you’ll give strong consideration to Logitech’s diNovo Mini. Though launched around two years ago, this portable Bluetooth keyboard looks like a match made in heaven for Dell’s newfangled 5-inch smartphone, with the cover holding the Streak (almost) perfectly in order to create a makeshift Android laptop. Better still, the Bluetooth device pairs seamlessly with Dell’s doodad, and both the keys and finger pad operate sans any major issues. But hey, it’s not like you ought to be taking our word for it — head on past the break to see the magic happen on video, and dig down in that source link for even more inspiration. It might just convince your cold, hardened heart that love does indeed exist.

We’ll admit that we never took Best Buy as the kind of company to sell its own wireless service, but you know what Best Buy does sell? Laptops with unlocked WWAN modems, and to that end, the retailer’s Best Buy Connect offering seems to be a pretty attractive one. Monthly plan pricing is about what you’d expect from anyone else, and you’ll be able to choose between two-year, one-year, and contract-free packages for the same price — the only difference is how much subsidy they’ll throw in for you upfront. On a two-year deal, you’ll get $275 off the compatible laptop of your choice, which compares favorably against all of its competitors — AT&T at $150, Verizon at $200, and Sprint at $250 — while you’ll pay $60 for 5GB of data, $40 for 500MB, or $30 for 250MB (only available without a contract). Sure, you might not attract the glitz, glamor, and curious stares that a high-fashion name brand like Verizon might… but seriously, who are we kidding? Data is data, and if this works well, it sounds like a square deal. Hit up the source link for all the details.

[Thanks, Christian]

We just got our hands on Wi-FI Sync and guess what? It actually works — fancy that! For those of you out of the loop, Apple recently rejected this gem of an app (go figure), but thanks to the magic of jailbreaking, that was hardly the end of the road. Days later, Wi-Fi Sync ended up on Cydia with a completely-affordable price tag of $9.99, promising iPhone and iPod touch users the ability to sync their device with iTunes sans any cabling whatsoever. Since we’re notoriously lazy when it comes to actually plugging in our phones and syncing, we fired up the program on our jailbroken 3GS in order to see exactly what the law-abiders in attendance were missing out on.

Installation couldn’t have been easier. We parted ways with our Hamilton, downloaded the necessary companion software for our laptop, and fired up the application. The iPhone was immediately recognized, and after a few prompts we were ready for action. Syncing was just as easy as it normally is (with “easy” being a relative term here), just without that iPod wire hanging around and bumming everyone out. We will say, however, that things weren’t as snappy OTA as a standard hardwired connection. It was a bit sluggish on the first couple of runs, and although iTunes crashed a few times (boo), we’re fairly confident in saying that a poor WiFi connection was to blame for the jankiness. Once we migrated closer to the router, things went much smoother. Still unsure if it’s worth the investment? Then give the video past the break a look.

And the good Froyo news just keep flowing in. TechCrunch have flexed their exclusive muscle this morning in revealing their discovery that Android 2.2 will come with built-in tethering and WiFi hotspot support. That means you’ll be able to use your phone’s 3G internet connection to hook your laptop up to the worldwide webosphere, with a choice of wired or wireless methods. Of course, this dreamy scenario will be subject to the big bad network operators permitting — or at least not forbidding — you to do such awesome things with your hardware, but at least we know the goods are being baked into this forthcoming release from Google. Frozen yogurt for all!
