One in five mobile phones sold KIRF, says Nokia

“>

When the main business is wrapped in emerging markets, Nokia is therefore best to know a little KIRFs one thing – they are cheap clones of the handset that our Chinese friends often an end more quickly than the time it takes to ship the Nokia handset after notification. The members of the Nokia Board, Esko Aho, says that one in five mobile phones now sold worldwide (mainly in Asia, Latin America, and in some parts of Europe) is an illegal or unauthorized clone. certainly we saw over itself when browsing the Shenzhen market in China. Gartner claims the number even higher than 20 percent. Although we do not spoil it KIRFs their nasty software, comically similar branding (Nokla!), and the cheapo materials, clearly they have become a very serious problem for top-level mobile phone manufacturers. How do we see a serious January 27, when Nokia will publish its fourth quarter results.

One in five mobile phones sold KIRF, said Nokia had originally appeared on Mobile Phone Street. Mar 21 January 2011 07:57:00 ET Please see the

Keepin’ it real fake: Verizon-branded Droid X ditches Android for Windows Mobile 6.5 (video)

No matter how many we see, we never cease to be amazed by some of the KIRFs out there. Take this Droid X, for instance, which doesn't even bother with a name like "Motorolo Foid X," and even goes so far as to include some legitimate-looking Verizon branding to back up its nearly spot-on appearance

Keepin’ it real fake: N-KIA E68 shows what an innovative Nokia handset might look like (video)

Yo Nokia, you can keep your E5 and its HD Voice fanciness, we want ourselves an N-KIA E68. Why, we hear the enraged Nokia acolyte ask, why would we defile Nokia's good name in such a manner

Palm Pre fake tires of waiting for webOS 2.0, takes up iOS and BlackBerry OS lookalikes instead

We feel your pain: you love your BlackBerry at work and your iPhone for personal use, but as hardware goes, nothing gets your motor running quite like the Pre's pebble-esque shell. Trust us, we've all been there! Well, a new clone out of China seeks solve all your technological woes by combining an iOS-inspired user interface and the Pre's body -- with an iPhone home button thrown in for good measure, of course -- and when the time comes to throw on the suit and tie and head to work, you can switch the UI over to BlackBerry mode

Keepin’ it real fake: Nokia’s Android N8

Can you believe we've waited on the N8 long enough for (at least) three KIRF versions to beat it to market? This latest one's pretty special too, as it gives us a glimpse into one of the fevered dream of Engadget commenters: a Nokia flagship rocking Android (2.1, in this case).

Keepin’ it real fake: EVO 4G Shanzai edition

Shameless isn't even the word for it. While some companies try to get away with calling themselves Nokla or BlockBerry , these Chinese KIRFers have no qualms about copying HTC's EVO 4G in its entirety (externally, anyhow). Yes, that includes the Sprint insignia and the promise of 4G, both of which are, of course, amusingly untrue.

Keeping it real fake: ePhone won’t shatter when you drop it, might melt in the sun

We're guessing that there won't be many tech sites lineblogging outside the Shenzhen KIRF stalls when the ePhone 4GS finally gets a release date. And it's a shame, really: for knock-off fanatics like ourselves, this thing could be in the big leagues, right up there with the iorgane (that's pronounced "i- orange ," by the way)
