So we’ve got a crazy theory here: Slashgear just got a couple closeup shots of some heretofore-unknown HTC. So did we — one in common with Slashgear, one different. Could it be that Taiwan’s finest are “leaking” us these shots in an effort to drum up interest going into CES in a couple weeks? We wouldn’t doubt it in the least — with the LG B, Optimus 2X, and Samsung Nexus S all fresh off the presses, HTC probably wouldn’t mind getting a little boost in mindshare right now, and there’s no better way to do it than by teasing a phone that looks an awful lot like the previously-leaked Mecha. As a refresher, the Mecha is the beast that might end up on Verizon as the Incredible HD, offering LTE compatibility for the carrier’s new 4G network — and we know that Verizon plans on showing a whole bunch of LTE devices at CES, so this is all lining up pretty nicely. Follow the break for the other shot we received along with Slashgear‘s.

It’s quite fitting for a device that’s purportedly codenamed Zeus to make its first video appearance somewhere in the wilds of Greece. What we have here is the apparent full motion debut of Sony Ericsson’s big crossover device, the PlayStation Phone, one half portable gaming console, one half Android smartphone. Unfortunately, we never see it flexing out its slider to reveal that delicious control pad, but judging from its curves and little design details, it does indeed look to be the real deal. Techblog.gr reports that it’s dubbed the Sony Ericsson Z1 and comes with Gingerbread on board — something that meshes well with earlier indications that some Zeus devices in the wild are already running Android 2.3 (and above) — while the screen is a 4-inch panel that apparently offers great touchscreen responsiveness. See the mythical creature for yourself after the break.

Given how close it is to the model it'll presumably be replacing, we can't help but feel like the Pre 2 should've actually been the phone we call the Pre Plus today -- and it should've launched six (or more) months ago -- but in the event webOS 2.0 doesn't come to older devices, we suppose that alone will be the impetus some current owners need to upgrade.

The floodgates are really starting to open wide on this Bold 9780, a phone that by all accounts seems like an ultra-mild Bold 9700 refresh with BlackBerry 6 preinstalled. Both TechnoBuffalo and Mainguyen, a Vietnamese retailer, have full previews posted where we can see the darker bezel in full detail along with confirmation that it’ll be packing a 5 megapixel camera and 512MB of RAM, double the 9700′s. TechnoBuffalo is reporting that the new WebKit-based browser is still mad slow on this thing — but let’s face it, painful browsing is something BlackBerry customers are already well-accustomed to, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Check out the source links for plenty of imagery and video (or, you know, just pull your 9700 out of your pocket and imagine BlackBerry 6 on it).

The BlackBerry 6-equpped Bold 9780 has been leaked a few times at this point, but we’re seeing it now for the first time totally unshackled from Mr. Blurrycam’s surly bonds… and yeah, if you had any doubts as to whether it was a dead ringer for the 9700 it’ll likely be replacing, you can put those doubts to rest. Of course, when you’ve got a keyboard as good as the Bold series does, sometimes it’s best to leave well enough alone, we suppose — just makes that lucrative early upgrade market a little tougher to tap.

[Thanks, Dion]

It appears we missed an opportunity at IFA to spend some quality time with LG’s recently-outed C300 Town, a dumbphone in every sense of the word whose main mission in life seems to be making your texting an easier task thanks to a full portrait QWERTY keyboard. It’s got a few other tricks up its sleeve, though, namely support for push email, a 3.5mm headphone jack (hopefully accompanied by a decent music player), and a 2 megapixel cam on back to capture those amazing moments with enough clarity (in theory, anyway) to make for a decent MMS. We’re still waiting for details on pricing and availability, but we know that it’ll be available on Orange at some point — appropriate, we must say, considering the orange accents.

[Thanks, Willeke]

Whatever wraps Windows Phone 7 handsets were being kept under seem to have all but vanished. It does away with the physical keyboard of its brother, allowing for an aggressively thin design, and still features Microsoft’s mandated three buttons across the bottom, though only the Start key is delineated in white. It would seem the Back and Search buttons either haven’t yet received their lick of paint or are going to be kept monochromatic to stick with the minimalistic aesthetic. Slide past the break to see the E900 in richly blurred motion.

So we just got a second batch of T-Mobile G2 shots dropped in our mailbox — and this time, you can get a much better look at the inner workings of the carrier’s version of the upcoming HTC Vision. <strike>Looks like this bad boy slides and tilts, which eliminates the need for a kickstand and is very likely causing you to breathe an audible sigh of relief right about now.</strike> Meanwhile, the backside reveals that HTC looks ready to really get into this asymmetrical design concept — something we’ve definitely seen on the Schubert / Mozart — and realistically, it’s probably going to polarize some buyers. Check out the gallery for a few more shots!

Update: We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we’ve just been told that the G2 doesn’t have a tilting screen, despite what you see up there — it’s just the inner workings of the slide being pulled up. Our hearts have been ripped from our chests on this one, rest assured.

These shots of a real, live G2 confirm what we’d already suspected from renders: this is basically an Americanized version of the upcoming HTC Vision. What does that mean? Well, it means you can expect a 3.7-inch display paired with Android and a sliding QWERTY keyboard — higher-end than the myTouch 3G Slide and a fitting successor to the trailblazing G1, if you ask us (though admittedly not quite as geeky as the model it replaces). Follow the break for another shot!
