Was the Nexus S nearly the Nexus Two?
Close your eyes: imagine an alternate universe where almost nothing you know holds true. A place where your entire system of beliefs has been torn asunder, flipped on its end for seemingly no reason whatsoever.

Verizon offering $10 monthly credit on new smartphone family plan lines
This one's pretty straightforward: add a line to your Verizon family plan and get a credit of $9.99 a month for the first 24 months -- a credit that's equal to the normal monthly cost of an additional line. There are a few catches: the family plan has to be at least $69.99 a month, you've got to be adding a smartphone, and the new phone needs to be signed up for a $29.99 data plan, so it's not like you're getting out of paying anything additional to pop Timmy and Julie shiny new Droid 2 Globals ... but hey, it's a little cheaper

Google’s gingerbread Androids are fully baked, can the OS be far behind?
Continuing with our cookery theme this morning, we now have a full tray of scrumptious-looking gingerbread Android men, courtesy of Google Mobile's Twitter account. The whole world and his poodle already know that Gingerbread , Android's next iterative update that's presently expected to be given the numerical identifier of 2.3 , is coming some time soon, but now Google's taken to fanning the flames of anticipation with some home cooking. What could it mean

HTC Mecha leaked on HTC Sense
We've been hearing the hushed whispers of an HTC Mecha handset for a few months. Now we've got solid evidence of its existence thanks to the HTC's own HTC Sense web site that lists the Mecha along side the Desire HD and Desire Z when signing up for an account. Unfortunately, the image used for the Mecha (found after the break) appears to be the old Hero handset unless HTC is planning to resurrect that particular industrial design (which we doubt).

Exclusive: future LG Android phone for Verizon sports LTE
We were just handed this image with very little detail other than the fact that we're looking at "a future LG high end Android phone for Verizon," but we can deduce a few things: one, and perhaps most notably, you can just barely make out an LTE logo toward the bottom of the back. That likely makes this one of the six-odd LTE phones Verizon has publicly said are slated for the first half of next year. Secondly, it's got an HD camera of some sort -- probably indicating either 720p or 1080p capture -- and finally, it appears to have a huge, mirrored display and possibly a front-facing cam in the upper right

Palm Pre 2 coming to Verizon?
It seems like we're getting closer and closer to the arrival of the Palm Pre 2 and webOS 2.0 , and it looks like Verizon will be in the mix -- we were just sent this image of Big Red's internal VZLearn portal showing Pre 2 device training. We still don't know when it'll actually hit or what pricing will be like, and we don't know if it'll hit Sprint and AT&T as well like the OG Pre, but we're guessing we'll find out soon enough -- keep a sharp eye, we'll let you know

Google Goggles reaches the App Store, only supported on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4
We can't exactly figure out why Google wants to give away all of Android's competitive advantages , but hey, we doubt the legions of iOS users are kvetching.
