iPhonECG case monitors your heart rate to make sure you’re appropriately excited about CES

CES isn’t just about incrementally thinner or faster hardware, you know. Some people like to bring legitimately innovative ideas to the show, such as this iPhonECG case, which does what its name suggests: it takes an ECG (electrocardiogram) reading of your heart’s activity through a pair of electrodes and then communicates its findings to an iPhone 4 it can be attached to. We say it can be attached to an iPhone as communication is done wirelessly, so you’ll probably be able to monitor your ticker’s rhythm without the Applephone pressed against your bosom. Then again, maybe you like that. It’s a free world, we don’t judge. We’ll be sending out our most hairy-chested editor to give this thing a proper test at the Las Vegas convention next week. Until then, scope out the video after the break.

BlackBerry Empathy design concept feels bad that you’re stuck using a BlackBerry
Rest easy, folks: we know it's pointy at the bottom, but we've been assured this isn't the BlackBerry 7100's true successor. Instead, the so-called Empathy is the bizarre outcome of of a RIM-sponsored design project at the Art Center College of Design that touts its ability to detect the emotions of its user and his or her contacts

Verizon quietly pushes Skype Mobile onto select non-smartphones
Back in February, Verizon Wireless made it quite clear what phones could be used with Skype Mobile, and the whole lot were smartphones . Sometime between then and now, however, it seems as if the carrier (or Skype... or both) has had a change of heart, as today a select few non -smartphones are showing up in its database as being compatible with Skype Mobile .

Yep, the iPhone runs Android 2.2, too
Sure, we might be seeing some big changes to the iPhone tomorrow , but what if you could see some big changes on your very own iPhone, today ? Well, you can if you're brave enough to try installing Android on your iPhone, which we've seen done before , but not with Android 2.2 (otherwise more deliciously known as Froyo )

Keepin’ it real fake: Nexus One clone spotted running iPhoney OS
Well, here's a bit of an extra special KIRF to start the week on the right note. Not only one of the first Nexus One clones we've seen ( HTC Desire aside), but a Nexus One clone running some sort of reasonably faithful imitation of iPhone OS (or the iPhone OS home screen, at least).
