Acer Liquid Metal handset confirmed for end of October in UK, has Froyo filling inside

Acer's UK press team has been atypically loquacious today in disclosing the expected launch window and Android version for its upcoming Liquid Metal handset. We've confirmed ourselves that the end of October is the period now circled on Her Majesty's calendar, though we suspect the rest of Europe, if not the entire world, will be getting to grips with the Froyo-packing smartphone at about that time as well.

Fan-made Pre ad gets the point, why can’t Palm? (video)

We've already talked ( at length ) about Palm's failure to properly present its wares to the public. Using promotional campaigns that have fluctuated between gimmicky and creepy , the company has never allowed its superlative WebOS its time to shine. As if to illustrate our point to perfection, a loyal Pre user has put together his own, extremely professional, advert for the device, which manages to achieve -- in a mere 30 seconds -- what Palm has been struggling with for nearly a year.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz shows up in multicolored Dutch hands-on

The former Kurara caterpillar has now sprouted into a Vivaz butterfly , and what do you know, all its lustrous color options have already been handled and explored by Dutch site All About Phones . We're told that early leaks and spy shots did a disservice to the handsome styling of the handset, which borrows some design cues from the Xperia X10 . It's smaller than you might think, apparently, and a delight to handle, though the back has an unfortunate taste for fingerprints
