HTC HD2 and Nexus One get some Gingerbread crumbs (update: EVO, Droid and Desire, too)

With Gingerbread freely distributed to the open-source masses, it probably won't surprise you to hear there already a custom ROM for Google's darling Nexus One . But what if we told you Android 2.3 is now available for the HTC HD2 as well? That's right, the Windows Mobile 6.5 powerhouse can now snap off a sugary piece of the same Android code, and from what we hear in the XDA-developers forums, it works pretty decently, too.

Nexus S has been rooted, let the madness commence!

Our good friends at xda-developers haven't kept us waiting long. Root access on the Nexus S has been achieved on the phone's day of release , and full instructions for replicating it are available at the link below.

Toshiba TG01 slowly, surely gets hacked to run Android

It's easy to forget about the TG01 nowadays, but bear in mind that Toshiba's WinMo beast from last year was the first production phone in the world to use Qualcomm Snapdragon silicon.

Windows Phone 7 gets user-friendly hack for bypassing the Marketplace, loading your own apps

Now that you've got your Windows Phone 7 device splayed open for USB mass storage use , why not make it friendly to non-Marketplace apps, too? Microsoft's been insistent so far about keeping sideloaded apps out of the equation unless you're a developer, but a new tool called ChevronWP7 -- compatible with Windows XP SP2 and up -- will "unlock" your little beast so that you can install whatever you like without going through the store.

Dell Streak gets SNES controller dock, navigates owner through Yoshi’s Island (video)

Who'd have thought that a little thing like the inclusion of USB Host capabilities could open the door to such wonders as an SNES controller dock? That's exactly what we have here. HTC Desire HD ROM gets dumped, ported, chopped, and screwed… oh, and benchmarked
