Intel snaps up former Palm and Apple VP Mike Bell for its smartphone push
Seriously, what the hell did HP acquire when it bought Palm ? A bunch of pretty patents and a rapidly dwindling talent pool, it would seem. Mike Bell, a celebrated capture for Palm back in 2007 after 16 years at Apple, was most recently occupying the role of Senior VP for Product Development on Jon Rubinstein's team, but he has now switched allegiances to the blue team .

How would you change Motorola’s Devour?
Motorola's Devour has somehow managed to get a little lost in the mix, primarily due to the wealth of Android options on America's two main CDMA carriers right now.

Yahoo smites dedicated Mobile group
As mocoNews points out, Google CEO Eric Schmidt made a fascinating (if not obvious) observation at his MWC keynote last month: for his company, mobile's now the primary focus while the desktop plays a secondary role. Yahoo seems to be reaching a similar conclusion on news that it has officially broken up its Mobile unit, instead moving mobile-focused employees into other divisions within the organization -- in other words, mobile will become integral to every group rather than an afterthought pushed to a separate set of bodies. Yahoo's been playing second fiddle to Google and Microsoft in this game -- understandably so, considering both of its biggest competitors have their own mobile operating systems -- but it remains to be seen how big of an impact this'll have

Microsoft: Windows Phone 7 upgrades will be possible, up to OEMs to make them happen
Alright, keep your socks on here, this is as noncommittal a statement as Redmond can make on the matter, but when asked directly about the likelihood and possibility of Windows Mobile 6.5 phones being transitioned to the new hotness that is Windows Phone 7 Series , Microsoft's Alex Reeve had this to say: It's early days yet, and that's really for our hardware partners to think about. As the Director of the company's UK Mobile Business Group, he's well positioned to know what's going to happen after said early days, and it's encouraging to hear that at least Microsoft won't be putting up any barriers to that HD2 upgrade we're all dreaming about. After all, the Chassis 1 specs we keep hearing about tend to sound an awful lot like HTC's 1GHz Snapdragon-powered bad self, so let's keep our fingers crossed and our minds open

Trying to stay positive as businesses close on New London's Main …
At least one of the businesses closed because of retirement, but the poor economy is blamed for most others. There's no word on why Main Street Hardware closed.
