BlackBerry News Feeds hits the beta wires
If you're in the market for a good -- or at the very least, free -- RSS reader for your BlackBerry , a new app from RIM itself might be a good place to start your search. The aptly-named BlackBerry News Feeds looks to be a serviceable app from the screen shots that RIM has sent us, offering the ability to share the gold you dig up in your feeds through countless conduits -- email, text, BBM, Facebook, and so on. It's launching both through BlackBerry Beta Zone and App World's Test Center today, so if you're feeling adventurous -- and you like yourself some newses -- you might want to have a look.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 hacked to support multitouch, sort of
So there's no recent sign of an official multitouch update ever coming to the maligned X10 from Sony Ericsson, but you know how it goes: when a manufacturer fails to step up to the plate, a hacker with a heart of gold (or two) usually does so in its place. So it goes in this case, with folks on xda-developers showing off some very, very rudimentary multitouch capability on video

iOS 4.2 bringing speed improvements to iPhone 3G?
The recent iOS updates have mostly been welcome improvements for iPhone 4 and 3GS users, but it's been a decidedly different story for folks sticking to their venerable iPhone 3G . Not only have they been left out of some of the fun , but they were dealt a serious performance hit with iOS 4.0 that was only somewhat corrected by IOS 4.1. Could iOS 4.2 finally bring things back up to speed

Verizon to light up LTE network in 30 "NFL cities" this year
We already knew Verizon was planning to hit one third of the country with LTE this year with plans to expand dramatically after that, but things are starting to come into sharper focus: the carrier today said that it'll light up 30 "NFL cities" with 4G by the end of the year. Now, there's only 32 teams, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out where that's going to be -- and considering the plan is to hit "major metropolitan areas," we'll go ahead and guess Green Bay isn't on the list, even though the Packers are by far the best team in the league. (Buffalo and Jacksonville also spring to mind -- and let's not forget that the NFL still isn't in LA, despite Ari Gold's best fictional efforts on Entourage.) The plan is to first upgrade each cell site's backhaul connection to Gigabit Ethernet so they'll have the necessary bandwidth to support the 5-12Mbps down and 2-5Mbps up speeds with 30-150ms latency promised for Big Red's LTE network at launch.

Gresso’s Las Vegas Jackpot phone costs a million dollars, seriously
When you make it your business to deliver outlandish new looks for mobile telephony, it can sometimes be a challenge to just outdo your last effort. So Gresso 's decided the only way forward is to collect all the fine materials it had lying around -- black diamonds, pure gold, diamond-cut sapphire crystals, and 200-year old African blackwood -- sprinkle them atop an otherwise nondescript featurephone, and slap on the spectacular price tag of $1,000,000.

Poll: is iOS 4 causing you grief?
To say our tip box has been inundated with reports of iOS 4 issues today would be something of an understatement. So far, those on staff seem to be running cool (with the exception of some slow down on our gold build downloads), but obviously you're a larger sample size with so far widely disparate reports. So tell us, is iOS 4 causing you grief

iOS 4 gold build now available to iPhone Developer Program members
You've got to wait a couple weeks to get this if you're the run-of-the-mill iPhone type -- but if you've ponied up the Benjamin for an iPhone Developer Program membership (who's probably suffered through a handful of iPhone OS 4 beta builds over the last few months), you're now able to download the Gold Master seed of iOS 4 directly from Apple's site. Let us know if you manage to sprout a front-facing cam on your 3GS to test FaceTime or anything cool like that, alright
