Sprint hammers out WiMAX roaming agreements in Taiwan, Jamaica
Most of us our still concerned with getting good 4G coverage domestically, much less internationally, but Sprint's taking things to the next level for globetrotters by hammering out a couple global roaming agreements for users of its WiMAX modems. The carrier has inked new deals with Jamaica's Digicel and Taiwan's Global Mobile that will allow travelers to sign up for 24-hour passes -- but as with any international roaming situation, pricing is the tricky part, and Sprint's yet to announce how that's going to play out here. Devices using the Sprint SmartView Connection Manager software are compatible, meaning the 250U and U600 modems are on board; an exact launch date is yet to be determined, unfortunately, so if you're a subscriber with a trip to either of those countries in the next few days, our deepest condolences

Intel’s Otellini says 35 Atom-based tablets coming in 2011, but smartphones get pushed back (again)
It's been a long, hard road for Intel in the mobile space, but it looks like things are about to get brighter: speaking at the Barclay's Capital Global Technology Conference today, CEO Paul Otellini said that some 35 Moorestown tablets running a mix of Windows, Android, and MeeGo would arrive in 2011.

Verizon gives Droid 2 Global a Facebook shout-out
We joked that the Droid 2 didn't need a marketing campaign , the leaks were getting so much press, and lo and behold, its Droid 2 Global refresh hit shelves without a single official word from Verizon. We figured the wireless carrier had taken our idea to heart and would rely entirely on word of mouth to sell the 1.2GHz worldphone, but if that's the case, Big Red's bending the rules -- it's given the handset a quick Facebook plug to speed that process along. At 215 characters, the status update is a little bit long to retweet, but you can Like it all you want..

Droid 2 Global GSM bands locked, camera bulge added to case
No surprise here, but it looks like Verizon's on-sale -but-never-really-announced Droid 2 Global has its GSM radios locked down, meaning you can't just throw an AT&T SIM in there and expect anything to work. Of course, the enterprising hackers at xda-developers are hot on the case, so there's a chance things will be opened up, but we wouldn't hold our breath

HTC Trophy with Windows Phone 7 coming to Verizon in ‘early 2011′
It's unclear whether Verizon will ever get HTC's 7 Pro , but it's a lock that Big Red will eventually have some manner of Windows Phone 7 gear in its lineup -- and now we've got one in the flesh. Looks like HTC will be remixing the Trophy for use on CDMA networks, featuring a 3.8-inch WVGA display, 5 megapixel cam, 16GB of storage, and 802.11n, and Verizon is circulating a brochure for Microsoft employees saying they'll be able to buy the Trophy in "early 2011" for $199.99 at launch when they renew their contracts now (they'll also get a leather case and a car charger for free, but hey, they're Microsofties). Oh, and that's not the best part: the Trophy is also identified as being a "quad band global phone," meaning you'll be able to roam on GSM networks when you leave the US behind -- a feature Verizon seems to be pushing pretty hard across its smartphone lineup now.

Verizon’s Pantech and LG LTE modems leak out in ad form
Verizon's promised a 38-city LTE launch by the end of the year, and it looks like things are ramping up -- we were just sent this ad for the LG VL600 and Pantech UML290 4G USB modems. We've seen the VL600 at the FCC and in the wild before -- it's dual mode CMDA / LTE modem that'll work pretty much anywhere Verizon has coverage, while the UML290 has a note about global capability "coming soon," so we'd assume there's a GSM radio tucked in there as well.

Verizon’s new rebate form shows two Droid 2 Globals, Samsung Continuum, and more
Carrier rebate forms have a fun tendency to reveal unannounced hardware, since they cover several upcoming weeks when they're published -- and Verizon's latest for the month of November is a particularly juicy one. Here's what we've got: There are two SKUs listed for the Droid 2 Global , but only one for the Droid Pro , leading us to wonder whether it'll actually be the Global that's getting a cameraless version

iPhone 3,2 rumored to be in near-final testing phase, cue the CDMA speculation
Apple's all aglow with its fiscal triumphs, but that's nothing new. Here's something else that follows the Cupertino company like night follows the day: Verizon iPhone rumors. Boy Genius Report claims it's heard from one of its "solid Apple sources" that iPhone 3,2 (seen previously in iOS code ) has hit "AP testing phase," which reportedly means final hardware and near-final software.

Droid 2 Global ads now running on Verizon’s 800 number
Whoever said being on hold was a bad thing? Verizon customers who call in and get stuck in limbo right now are being treated to a minor device scoop: an ad for the mythical Droid 2 Global , which has leaked out here and there but hasn't yet been officially announced.

Verizon gets official with Wireless Fivespot mobile hotspot, touts awful global roaming plans
Really, Verizon ? Play up the global roaming features of your new-but-not-unexpected Wireless Fivespot , only to strangle it with GlobalAccess plans that top out with 200MB of international data? Thanks, but no thanks.
