Not to be outdone, LG chose MWC to show off its Mini GD880 , a svelte piece built from brushed aluminum in both black and silver. Build quality is striking here -- jaw-droppingly so -- with fit and finish on all corners, seams, and around the various ports looking spot on.

LG GD880 Mini briefly caught on video

So it turns out LG really wasn't messing around with the "Mini" name on its new GD880 full touchscreen set that's likely due to break out at its MWC open house next week, because our dear colleagues at Engadget Spanish have scored a quick video of the thing -- and goodness, it's small. F480 owners and fans are probably going to feel right at home with this thing, a phone that LG claims is the world's smallest with a 3.2-inch display.

LG GD880 Mini lives up to its name

Some of LG's product names mean absolutely nothing at all , but in the case of the rumored GD880 Mini, it's actually pretty appropriate -- the phone is being billed as the world's "smallest and slimmest" with a 3.2-inch display. Social networking, web browsing, and email are all major talking points for the device, but it's got some bite to go with the bark, too, thanks to a 5 megapixel cam, WiFi, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and integrated FM radio. Pricing isn't being discussed at this point, but it'll be hitting parts of Europe next month, so start making room in your pocket -- just not too much.

Qisda’s ultra high-res QCM-330 smartphone and more surface ahead of iF awards

The iF Design Awards won't officially be handed out until the big ceremony at CeBIT next month, but some of the winners have now already been announced, and they include a few surprises. One of those is this new Qisda QCM-330 smartphone, which is said to be Android-based, and packs a 4-inch, 1,280 x 1,024 screen (supposedly, although the actual resolution will likely differ given the aspect ratio), WiFi and HSDPA connectivity, a 3 megapixel camera, and an accelerometer, among other, as yet unnamed specs

LG GD880 Mini and its chrome bezel spotted

We now know what's coming from LGs home entertainment offerings , but wondering what's next on the celly front? We've got a glimpse into at least one thing, with pictures hitting the web of the LG GD880, dubbed the Mini -- at least for now. It's rocking a 3.2-inch, 480 x 854 screen and a mere 100MB of storage, but microSD expansion should give you plenty of room for growth
