T-Mobile prepaid account management on the fritz for the past week, Web DayPasses hard to buy

A quick gander at T-Mobile's official support forums suggests that the carrier's prepaid customers have been in a world of hurt for the past few days -- or the ones that use data, at least.

HTC Desire official Froyo rollout commences on T-Mobile UK

We knew it was coming to European carriers, and it's already hit unlocked phones , but if your HTC Desire is bound and chained to T-Mobile UK, you'll be getting a feature-filled Android 2.2 update any day now. The official T-Mobile UK forums announced the news, which has been corroborated by a number of tipsters who say they've already received the download, but if yours doesn't appear, never fear, the frozen yogurt is just being dished out in small, slow-churned batches like usual. "The 2.2 firmware update (FroYo) will be available from today and will be sent over the air (OTA) direct to your phone over the coming weeks" is the official word, for those of you who prefer direct quotes.

Google on Android 2.2: ‘feverishly working to get a final version out the door’

Considering Google's typically feverish pace in deploying new Android builds, we'll admit -- we kind of expected Android 2.2 Froyo to be released to retail Nexus Ones by now... but no dice

GSM Palm Pre SIM unlock now available, unofficially

If you're itching to put a webOS device on your AT&T account and don't mind having half the now-standard RAM , the developers at jictechnology have released what they're claiming is an official, permanent SIM unlock for the original Palm Pre. A few bugs to get through, but it's apparently legitimate enough (we haven't tried, but the happy customers in the forums seem to suggest success) for the group to charge around

Nexus One complaints mount, no firmware update in sight

We've had a Nexus One in daily use for a couple months now with relatively little drama, but Google's official support forums for the so-called superphone appear to be piling up a good head of steam on a handful of issues troubling owners. Perhaps the highest profile among them is the 3G signal strength issue -- a problem that predates the Nexus One's first and only firmware update -- but users are complaining about everything from unresponsive touchscreens, to failed text messages, to problems with the ambient light sensor, and there are enough "me too" responses in the support threads to warrant some serious attention. We know Google hasn't been sitting on its hands behind the scenes, so this is probably more of a timing issue than anything else -- could it be that they're waiting for Flash 10.1 before pushing the next release

Nexus One 3G problems persist after update — is it a design problem?

Looks like someone at Google should fast forward those Nexus One design videos to the radio integration portion and figure out what went wrong, because it seems like the 3G coverage problem still hasn't been fixed , even after that last big OTA update . What's more, many in Google's support forums are noting that the phone will drop a weaker 3G signal merely when held by the bottom, as the video below clearly shows. Oops.
