Verizon confirms original Droid will be getting second Froyo update
It still doesn't add mobile hotspot or tethering functionality , but it looks like users of the original Droid will soon be getting a second Android 2.2 (a.k.a Froyo ) update. That's been confirmed by Verizon itself, which says that the second update will be following the just-released one in the "coming weeks," and that it will let users download Flash 10.1 from the Android Market once it's available. Details are light beyond that, but Phandroid notes that the rollout of the current Froyo update is expected to be complete around August 18th, and surmises that the second rollout will begin shortly thereafter.

Android 2.2 will invite you to visit ‘Flash-enabled’ sites, rub Apple’s nose in it
The battle for minds is well and truly on now, and if there was any doubt that Google and Adobe are cozying up together to take on Apple , let it now be extinguished. TechCrunch is reporting that the latest version of Android -- you know, the one with the 450 percent performance improvement and buttery smooth Flash playback -- will, upon updating, guide you to visit a selection of Flash-enabled websites. Countering Apple's list of iPad-ready (aka Flash-free) websites, this is clearly intended as a showcase of the Adobe software's capabilities

Adobe CTO says Flash 10.1 for Android in June — will Froyo follow suit?
Let's take a break from Apple and Adobe's back-and-forth, shall we? Instead, we'll let the latter company talk about its work with Google, specifically the Android platform. Flash-based CTO Kevin Lynch said today in a post, "We look forward to delivering Flash Player 10.1 for Android smartphones as a public preview at Google I/O in May, and then a general release in June." Good news, indeed, but with all this talk of Froyo having native Flash support , and this month's conference serving as the largest gathering of Android developers, we can't imagine a better platform (pun intended) for Andy Rubin and company to unveil its fragmentation-curbing Froyo update

Adobe says no delays to Flash 10.1, CEO was just talking hardware
In a communication with Phone Scoop , Adobe has tidied up the meaning of its CEO's words from a recent interview with Fox Business . In it, Shantanu Narayen repeatedly tells us to expect new Android, WebOS and BlackBerry devices with integrated Flash compatibility during the second half of 2010, but Adobe has now explained that he didn't mean that the Flash delivery schedule will be delayed, not at all. You see, Narayen was talking about hardware coming out in the second half, but Flash 10.1 itself will still be arriving "to first mobile platforms including Android ...

Adobe CEO: Flash coming to Android, WebOS and BlackBerry ‘smartphones and tablets’ in 2H 2010
This week Adobe released version 5 of its Creative Suite software compilation. CEO Shantanu Narayen has naturally hit the interview trail to promote his company's wares, but the biggest news from him is actually a delay of sorts.

Flash 10.1 snubbing non-ARMv7 Android devices, too? (update: yes)
The same Adobe employee who mentioned on Adobe's official forums that Flash 10.1 would be blowing right past Windows Mobile 6.5 made another notable comment, too: on Android, they'll be conveniently overlooking devices that aren't based on an ARMv7 core like a Snapdragon or OMAP3 -- in other words, pretty much every device of consequence except the Nexus One , HTC Desire , Acer Liquid , Motorola Droid / Milestone , and Sony Ericsson X10 . At this point, we're starting to get a little suspicious -- this is the same company that proudly demoed the Hero's custom-rolled Flash support last year, after all, and there'll be no shortage of devices using Qualcomm's MSM7x27 line of chipsets in 2010 -- so we're holding out for some additional verification on this

Adobe got 7 million iPhone and iPod touch download requests for Flash in December
A touch of history might be appropriate here. Back in March 2008, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen proudly proclaimed that his team was about to start coding a Flash player for the iPhone, only for his company to promptly backtrack on those words a day later. Then, about this time last year, Apple and Adobe again announced that they were collectively working on putting the ubiquitous format on Cupertino's mobile devices, but you won't be surprised to hear that hasn't born any fruit yet either
