Verizon, Disney deal means ESPN on tablets, ESPN 3D and Goal Line channel for FiOS

Verizon FiOS subscribers can expect a few new channels in the lineup now that it's reached an agreement with Disney for ESPN content across a variety of channels and even devices. While ESPN 3D isn't scheduled for launch until 2011 (maybe in time for the BCS National Championship game , but too late to catch LeBron, Dwyane, Chris and those other guys take on the Knicks ) ESPN Goal Line will go live on the 9th for Extreme HD and Ultimate HD package subscribers (except for D.C

Samsung Galaxy S review shootout: Captivate for AT&T and Vibrant for T-Mobile

We've got to hand it to Samsung with its Galaxy S line. Coordinating the launch of a single family of devices across all four national US carriers (plus a regional or two) is a feat very rarely accomplished, and usually reserved for really unique handsets that those carriers wouldn't be able to effectively source from anyone else; HTC's Touch Pro2 is a prime example of that. Add to that the murky issue of exclusivity periods..

AT&T handing out free 3G MicroCells to loyal customers?

While we've no clue how widespread AT&T's generosity is, or how you might get one, it appears that the company's "most valuable customers" are now receiving free range-boosting femtocells . Today, loyal reader Jason got a old-fashioned paper letter in the mail, offering his iPhone-wielding family a 3G MicroCell with no strings attached

Samsung Epic 4G preview

We've seen our fair share of Samsung Galaxy S phones in the past few weeks, but the Sprint Epic 4G version (or the Galaxy S Pro, as we'd previously suspected it would be known) looks like it could take the cake. The phone has all the same specs as the others family members -- including a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, 5 megapixel cam, a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, and Android 2.1 -- but it also boasts a front facing camera and a physical keyboard.

Symbian^3 C7 with nHD display confirmed on Nokia’s own site

If Nokia's N8 is just too much smartphone for you then perhaps you'd like to take it down a notch with the C7. As part of the C-series of Nokia devices, you can expect it to trim some of the specs off the N8, but not much as the flagship device of the family . You know, something very similar to the apparently leaked image and specs (pictured above) we saw a few weeks back.

Palm Pre Plus, Pantech Breeze 2 dummies showing up in AT&T stores

It's pretty wild that neither Palm nor AT&T have fessed up to a release date for the GSM-ified versions of the Pre Plus or Pixi Plus yet -- especially considering that there are already unboxings going on -- but we've now got confirmation that dummy units (of the Pre Plus, anyhow) are filtering into retail stores, so it definitely shouldn't be much longer now. Dummies of an updated version of the ultra-simple Pantech Breeze (uncreatively named Breeze 2 ) is also coming in, so between these two, you should pretty much be able to outfit every member of the family from grandpa to the newborn.

Clearwire CEO mentions that WiMAX could join LTE as one, Verizon Wireless CTO says no way

It's no huge secret that the differences between LTE and WiMAX aren't exceedingly drastic , and with the right support, the two could theoretically form one big, happy family. During this morning's CTIA keynote with Dan Hesse (Sprint's CEO) and Bill Morrow ( Clearwire 's CEO), the latter noted that he wasn't interested in waging a war with LTE, suggesting that his spectrum is "designed and built so we can add on LTE should we need to." 'Course, one would suggest that Clearwire's in no position to get angry with the standard that boasts larger industry support, but we digress. A few hours later during Verizon's LTE roundtable , the carrier's CTO (Tony Melone) responded to an audience question related to LTE and WiMAX becoming one.
