The low-end LG Optimus S that wowed us earlier the other day has a magenta twin -- the LG Optimus T , headed to T-Mobile with very similar hardware. Considering that both carriers' phones will come in purple and black, you could easily be excused for confusing the two -- aside from a prominent logo and the physical button arrangement, they've got the exact same build

Samsung Captivate coming to Rogers ‘soon’
We'd figured the Captivate name was owned by AT&T, so color us surprised to see that the Galaxy S variant is finding its way to another carrier with the exact same branding and ID: Rogers up in Canada. Pricing and release date aren't being offered up yet, but Rogers says that "more details will be available in the coming weeks," so we're hoping (perhaps foolishly) that we can look forward to an August launch

HP / Palm buyout officially complete — get ready for webOS printers
It's only been a couple short months since HP announced its intentions to buy Palm , but apparently all the investors are happy and the lawyers are rich, because the two companies have just announced that the $1.2b transaction is official and the buyout is complete -- Palm is now part of HP. Yes, it's the end of an era -- Palm's been a part of the tech landscape in one confounding way or another since 1992 -- but it's also the start of what could potentially be a webOS renaissance , as HP plans to use Palm's ideas and OS on everything from smartphones ( phew ) to tablets to even printers

Samsung teases next Android announce, Galaxy S bound for T-Mobile next month?
It's no secret that Samsung wants to spread its high-end Galaxy S far and wide , but the exact details of its US attack have been a mystery thus far. TmoNews is reporting a "trusted source" as saying that the phone is pegged for a launch on T-Mobile on July 21, which matches up with some chatter we've been hearing as well. Though T-Mobile's been supporting Android as aggressively as any carrier in the world, the company lacks a hero device -- something akin to the Droid Incredible or EVO 4G -- so it would stand to reason that Samsung's best Android gear to date would be a good fit over there

Rogers getting Android 2.1-equipped Acer Liquid e this spring
Acer may make plenty of cellphones, but they've so far been a pretty rare sight on North American carriers. That's now set to change this Spring, however, when Rogers will reportedly be the first carrier in North America to offer Acer's new Liquid e phone -- and, incidentally, the first carrier in Canada to offer an Android 2.1 phone (not counting the upgradable Milestone, that is). In case you missed its debut at MWC, the Liquid e packs a 3.5-inch touchscreen, along with a slightly underclocked 768MHz Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps 3G and Wi-Fi and, of course, a basic implementation of Android 2.1.
