Nokia N8 goes official: 12 megapixels, Symbian^3, shipping in Q3

And just like that, it's official. We heard back at CTIA that Nokia's N8 would see an official reveal during April, and just a few short days after surfacing in Russia, that very smartphone has indeed been announced over in Espoo. There's not much here we didn't know about -- it'll be rocking a 12 megapixel camera (with Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash), 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, HDMI output, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot, HD video recording, access to Ovi Store apps, free Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation, and of course, the company's new Symbian^3 operating system

AT&T moves toward eco-friendly packaging, earns our approbation

Notice to all gadget makers and vendors: if you reduce your packaging and engage in environmentally conscious behavior , you'll get free press out of it and positive brand awareness to boot. Take for example AT&T's newly announced design specifications for its own-brand phone accessories and packaging requirements for cellphone makers.

Samsung Wave shows what’s Super about its AMOLED display by going outdoors (video)

Direct sunlight -- is there anything more terrifying for an OLED screen ? Up until now, you had to sacrifice some outdoor performance from your phone's display in order to get the spectacular contrast and viewing angles on offer from OLEDs.

BlackBerry Curve 8910 in the wild?

If you thought RIM had completely run out of ways to mildly remix its existing portrait QWERTY formula, think again -- the transition from trackball to optical pad has opened up a whole new world of exciting opportunities, and it looks like the venerable Curve 8900 might be the next model to get the refresh. BerryReview appears to have scored a shot of the alleged 8910 in its most natural environment -- a desk calendar -- preserving the Curve series' typical broken-up keyboard style (as opposed to the connected keys you see in the Bold line)
