PlayStation Phone sized up with numerous devices in another in-depth Chinese preview

Okay, now this is getting ridiculous. It’s been literally less than 48 hours since we saw the first in-depth Chinese-language preview of Sony’s still yet-to-be-confirmed PlayStation Phone, and believe it or not, we’ve got another one. (Our resident translator Richard Lai suggests this might be the same PS Phone just being passed around the various websites.) It’s just as long and arguably just as in-depth with an absolute ton of comparison pics with the PSP Go, the Xperia lineup, a DSi, a Droid… the list goes on. Much of what’s written is the same, and the PlayStation Pocket app is still a mystery. The preview does say a third-party emulator was downloaded and tested, with 70 percent success, but that doesn’t actually tell us anything. Anyway, even if you don’t know Chinese, hit up the source and bask in the glory of a ton more pics.

[Thanks, Shaun]

Samsung sells 9.3 million Galaxy S devices, within reaching distance of its lofty goal

10 million freaking smartphones. Who thought, when Samsung put that number forward as its 2010 Galaxy S sales goal two months ago, that it was actually going to happen? Well, with just over a week left in the calendar year, the Korean giant has racked up 9.3 million sales of its Android superphone globally and actually expects to sneak past the mythical 10 million mark just before the champagne glasses start clinking. The Galaxy S has also scored a win in its home market of South Korea, where its two million units sold so far leads the iPhone 4′s 1.8 million sales. Hearty congratulations are due to the crew in Seoul, such success doesn’t happen by chance, but let’s keep working on those Froyo (and Gingerbread!) software updates as well, eh chaps?

Yes, that’s a woman with a dog in a Baby Björn throwing prototype Nokias

So here's how the story goes: employees at Nokia facilities in Oulu and Tampere, Finland, were fed up with negotiations being held between their representatives and the company over planned layoffs , and decided to do something about it. But really, why strike or organize a rally when you can just socialize, use a few prototype devices for target practice, and get your Cavalier King Charles spaniel some fresh air at the same time

Best Buy sees big drop in TV sales, eases pain with beefy mobile revenue

Best Buy's stock took a 14.8 percent beating today on news that it earned $217 million in the third quarter -- a 4.4 percent decline year over year -- and felt compelled to revise its fourth quarter forecast downwards. The reason? Seems folks are holding off on buying televisions in a big way: the company suffered a "low-double digit' decline in boob tube sales, even worse than an industry average in the single digits, which would suggest that 2010's 3D revolution hasn't attracted the kind of consumer attention manufacturers (and content providers) would've liked

Nokia’s former MeeGo chief confirms new role as Senior VP of webOS at HP

Ari Jaaksi, the former head of MeeGo Devices at Nokia has confirmed reports from last month identifying HP as his new employer. According to the latest update to his LinkedIn profile, Ari is now enjoying the mild temperatures of the San Francisco Bay Area and does indeed hold the title of Senior Vice President at Hewlett-Packard. That in itself doesn't necessarily mean he's the new head honcho for webOS and Palm devices , but clicking on his "Company Website" link takes you to Palm.com, which should dispel any lingering doubts.

Google Instant for Mobile goes live on Android and iPhone (video)

We'd heard Google Instant was quietly popping up in mobile form for a lucky few, but it's officially widespread now -- the query-while-you-type search technology's just hit open beta on Android 2.2 and iOS 4. Just go to Google in your favorite mobile browser and press the "Turn on" link, and you'll be able to rush into the arms of your favorite technology blog with four fewer clicks. We maintain that it's nigh-useless on most standard-sized mobile devices, as you can only ever see the top result without scrolling up and down, but it won't cost you a penny to pick up your handset and form an opinion for yourself.

Pair of HTC Windows Phone 7 devices hit the FCC

Not much in the way of specifics here, but a pair of HTC Windows Phone 7 devices have just turned up on the FCC's website, which leads us to believe that some phones might actually be launching any day now . Unfortunately, there's not even so much as a product name to be found (let alone images), but Phone Arena notes that one of the devices uses the WCDMA Band IV, which would make it a likely candidate for T-Mobile, while the other phone's WCDMA V band suggests that it's headed for AT&T. Sprint lights up WiMAX in San Francisco

Well girls and boys, if you're in San Francisco, today's your lucky day! It looks like Sprint has finally switched on its WiMAX 4G network in the city by the bay, so whip out your Sprint Overdrive , EVO 4G , or Epic 4G and join the party. We've tested connection speeds using the Epic 4G in Potrero Hill and are seeing between 5 and 7 (!) Mbps down and 1.2 Mbps up with 6 full bars of signal indoors. Even after moving 4 blocks away, download speeds stayed between 2 and 4 Mbps, with the signal dropping to 4 bars, so it appears we've finally reached the realm of "ludicrous speed" on mobile devices
