Sprint still 3G-$ 10/mo subscription pricing, calling it a “premium data”

Oh, Sprint, you’re a crafty devil. The country’s third largest airline just announced that it is tacking an extra $ 10 monthly premium information “free of charge to all 3G data plan – actually charging a 3G phone owners of the same whole, and the Epic Evo owners pay now 4G services. It is particularly strange, because Sprint hidden price increase in a statement titled “Smartphones Drive Wireless Data Explosion”, which initially appears to be more information before moving on suddenly must defend the additional costs and potshots tiered data plans – we do not know nobody wants to talk about increasing prices, but let’s have gumption, guys. All holders of current 3G plan will not see their rates go up, until they “upgrade or switch to another smartphone,” does not sound like a big family plan, but we will get clarification, and to say you. Either way, we’d say picking up the phone, Sprint 4G just real silly. PR after the break.

Sony Ericsson’s Zeus Z1 PlayStation phone contributes sample shots to Picasa

At this point, does it really surprise anyone that a new phone is leaking by way of a photo sharing site ? We totally understand the conundrum: when you're logged into a phone that you're testing and you're taking pictures, it's so easy to upload 'em. And hey, you need to test the sharing functionality at some point anyway, right

Nexus S still leaking on public photostreams, showing exciting new angles

We know that Samsung's upcoming Gingerbread -powered Nexus S is curved in a pretty unusual way , and a new photo on Picasa -- on one of the same photostreams where we've seen "Nexus S" and "GT-i9020" in the EXIF data before -- gives us a new glimpse of the phone at a three-quarter view where we can really see just how curved it is. It's still unclear to us whether the display is involved in the curving or if it's restricted to the bezel above and below the actual screen, but either way, it's a distinctive design element that's sure to attract a lot of attention. Interestingly, the picture was captured on a Google employee's stream just this weekend, suggesting devices are definitely still out in the field -- so let's hope it launches right alongside Android 2.3 in the next few weeks

EVO 4G owners having data issues this week?

We aren't able to reproduce this problem ourselves, but a bunch of EVO owners seem to be reporting this week that their handsets have started acting like fools while trying to browse the web, possibly related specifically to Google-branded sites.

Sprint CEO claims WiMAX is here to stay, says Clear’s LTE trials were for potential multi-mode phones

Sprint and Clearwire have characterized LTE as complimentary to WiMAX time and again , but if that doesn't allay your suspicions of turncoat tactics in the wireless data space, take it from Sprint CEO Dan Hesse's lips. "Our 4G strategy is WiMAX, full stop!" he told GigaOM , adding that LTE isn't necessarily on Sprint's roadmap.

Google’s wardriving days are over, says Canadian privacy commissioner

When Google's Street View cars glide through your neighborhood next, you can leave the WPA2 encryption off -- Canada says that the company has "discontinued" the practice of snooping on unsecured WiFi networks with its mapping vehicles, and "has no plans to resume it." That's one of several findings in a report by Canada's privacy commissioner today, which also claims that the controversial data collection feature was the work of a single Google engineer, and that Google intends to use smartphones to pinpoint WiFi networks from now on. Naturally, the latter caused the commissioner concern that Android phones might capture the same data as the cars.

MetroPCS turns attention away from unlimited momentarily, launches Walmart-exclusive bucket plans

A quick check of MetroPCS' site reminds us what these guys are all about -- unlimited voice, data, and messaging for less than you'd pay with any of the big guys -- but it looks like they might be exploring a shift in strategy with a handful of new prepaid packages that have launched exclusively through Walmart stores. For $20 you can get 500 minutes and 500MB of data, while moving up to $30 gets you 1,000 minutes and just 100MB of data -- both plans include unlimited messaging -- while a third plan for just $10 nets 200 voice minutes and unlimited incoming texts. Unsurprisingly, the packages aren't available with either MetroPCS' smartphones nor with the Craft , its just-launched LTE handset -- but considering how modern phones of both the smart and not-so-smart variety are emphasizing data and text features over voice, we wouldn't be surprised to see the regionals start to experiment more and more with interesting buckets

T-Mobile to intro $10 data plan for smartphone data lightweights?

It's getting pretty clear that T-Mobile is rethinking its mobile data strategy, what with all the prepaid plans , data throttling and WiFi calling going on, and TmoNews says it isn't done shaking things up -- the carrier will reportedly introduce a 200MB data plan specifically for smartphone owners at $10 a month. Before you voice your hatred of tiered data pricing, know that Magenta will reportedly retain the existing $30 unlimited data plan, unlike its blue-and-white rival , and customers who pick the cheaper option will apparently be able to upgrade on the fly.

T-Mobile’s Passes prepaid data plans leak out

We've been saying prepaid data plans are going to be the next big wave in mobile, and it looks like T-Mobile's getting on board -- we were just sent this employee training sheet detailing the upcoming Passes plans. All of T-Mobile's mobile broadband products are eligible, which is nice, but the plans themselves are a bit lame -- $10 gets you 100MB of data or a weeks' access, whichever comes first, $30 gets you 300MB or a a month's worth of access, while $50 nets you 1GB or 30 days
