HTC 7 Trophy first hands-on!
Here's yet another HTC handset from the WP7 launch today: the 7 Trophy . Features like the 3.8-inch WVGA LCD, 1GHz Snapdragon and the 5MP camera certainly sound familiar; even the phone's battery cover has taken a design cue from the Desire -- same peel-off method, and same matte texture. Not all that exciting, really, but the OS was running pretty smoothly except for the buggy HTC Hub and browser

LG Vortex for Verizon in the wild?
It might be a little early to cue the "vortex of suck" jokes, but this spy shot definitely says it all: the phone -- claimed to be called Vortex -- is decidedly on the lower end of Verizon's Android spectrum. The Droid Guy , source of the photo, says that the specs include a 600MHz core, 3.2-inch display, FM radio, and Froyo; that basically matches up with the recently-announced Optimus One's spec sheet, and considering the similarity in industrial design, it's reasonable to follow the site's conclusion that this little more than a CDMA port of the device. To be fair, the Android handsets in Verizon's present-day lineup are definitely weighted toward the pricey side, so phones like this and the Motorola WX445 should help balance things out a smidge when (and if) they ultimately end up launching.

Nokia Kinetic concept revealed in prototype form
Impressed by Jeremy Innes-Hopkins' Nokia Kinetic concept the other day? Then take a good look at the image above. That's the actual prototype of the device, which unfortunately doesn't power on (or have anything to power on), but does look remarkably like the previous renders we've seen, and gives us a far better idea of the scale of the device.

Nokia Kinetic concept offers some ideas Nokia might want to heed
Cellphone concepts are a dime a dozen, but a couple of particularly interesting ones have cropped up in recent days, including Andrew Kim's HTC 1 , and this so-called Nokia Kinetic concept from British designer Jeremy Innes-Hopkins. Obviously, the most eye-catching aspect here is that prominent base, which is not simply a design flourish but actually houses an electromagnet that allows the phone to spring up on cue -- when an alarm goes off, for instance, or during a hands-free video call (simply flip the phone back down to dismiss the action).

Verizon’s V Cast Apps store is a go, first on BlackBerry Storm2
Right on cue (sort of), Verizon Wireless' branded V Cast Apps market has finally seen the light of day. We've actually heard about the store since last summer, but it wasn't until the carrier's LTE forum at CTIA that we had a confirmed date.
