Yes, that’s a woman with a dog in a Baby Björn throwing prototype Nokias
So here's how the story goes: employees at Nokia facilities in Oulu and Tampere, Finland, were fed up with negotiations being held between their representatives and the company over planned layoffs , and decided to do something about it. But really, why strike or organize a rally when you can just socialize, use a few prototype devices for target practice, and get your Cavalier King Charles spaniel some fresh air at the same time

RIM’s Jim Balsillie hits back at the Steve Jobs rant, Apple’s ‘distortion field’
You had to know that Steve wouldn't get away with putting his five minute, competition-slamming manifesto out into the ether without some snap back from the competition. We've already heard responses from TweetDeck and Andy Rubin , and now RIM's co-CEO Jim Balsillie has issued a statement in response to Jobs.

Mobilicity takes Rogers to task over Chatr, alleges it’s using a ‘flanker brand’
At a glance, it seems like upstart Canadian value carrier Mobilicity has a fairly cut-and-dried case against Rogers here, alleging in a complaint to the government's Competition Bureau that the big guy is in direct violation of Section 78 of the country's Competition Act that prevents established companies from creating so-called "flanker brands" offering lower prices to kill off new players. In other words, it's saying Rogers' new Chatr sub-brand only exists to make life difficult for the likes of Mobilcity, WIND Mobile , and Public Mobile -- and considering the uncanny timing of Chatr's creation, Rogers is probably going to have a tough time explaining that one away

Clearwire’s Rover service goes live, offers $5/day 4G service
Looks like the prepaid wireless data market is starting to heat up: Clearwire just launched its Rover service, which offers 4G wireless data for as little as $5 a day -- with two free days included when you first sign up. That's not bad if you just need a quick hit here or there, although you need to pony up $150 for that Rover Puck WiFi hotspot we saw at the FCC last month or $100 for a USB stick, and anything more than a day quickly becomes less of a deal at $20/week and $50/month

Nook for Android now available to download, offers eBook lending
Well, what do you know? Turns out you don't actually need to invest in a Nook e-reader to enjoy the experience on your existing smartphone. And considering that the average Android smartphone will boast a display larger than your face within 2 years (if current trends continue, anyway), we'd say we could be onto something good here.

BlackBerry 6′s WebKit-based browser bests the competition in a good ‘ol standards showdown
It's been almost a year since RIM picked up Torch Mobile and locked its newly acquired division in a closet, telling those coders to not come out until BlackBerry had a world-class browser. Early tests from Salomondrin, the self-described "007 of the Phone World," indicates that those tired engineers can now finally go home and get some sleep. The new WebKit-based browser, a part of BlackBerry OS 6.0 , managed a score of 208 on the Acid HTML5 tests, measuring browser compliance and performance.

Samsung Vibrant launching on July 15 instead of 21?
We've just been tipped with a document claiming that the Samsung Vibrant -- T-Mobile USA's flavor of the Galaxy S -- is now slated for a July 15 launch (with devices actually shipping to stores on the 7th) versus the July 21 date that had been pegged at the official announcement. Interestingly, this lines up with a completely different document that's been slipped to TmoNews today, so we tend to believe it; question is, why the change? Is T-Mobile looking to get a Super AMOLED jump on the competition, seeing how all four US nationals are launching a version of the phone
