T-Mobile starts up 4G ad campaign by poking a stiletto into AT&T’s network (video)

We suspected T-Mobile's new advertising campaign would ruffle some feathers , but we weren't ready for quite such brazen trash-talking right off the bat. Of course, it's trash talk dressed up in a pretty white and Magenta dress and delivered in the most angelic of voices, but T-Mobile makes its point to AT&T subscribers loud and clear: we got 4G, you don't. Whether you consider the network's current 21Mbps theoretical max a true representation of 4G or not, we'll leave up to you; just make sure to join us past the break for the Apple-scented commercial, which also teases the myTouch 4G, a HSPA+ handset that T-Mobile happens to be launching today .

Palm Pre 2 and webOS 2.0 showcased in new commercial

It's hard to tell if the ad embedded after the break is purely official, but it definitely reeks of HP. In a good way, that is. Uploaded by the same fellow that gave us our first sneak peek at webOS 2.0, this "Sizzle" ad shows 34 solid seconds of Palm Pre 2 action, complete with a glimpse at Angry Birds, Facebook and all sorts of new 2.0 features

HTC Mondrian poses for press shots?

German site BestBoyZ has delivered a string of HTC leaks in recent weeks, and the latest is a fairly legit-looking handful of alleged press shots of the Mondrian . As a refresher, the Mondrian seems to be one of the many code and commercial names floating around for Windows Phone 7 -based devices HTC is looking to ship at or very near to the platform's retail launch, a higher-end unit ( possibly equipped with a 1.3GHz Snapdragon ) that would probably hang in the same space as the rumored HD7 and Trophy

Japan holds off on choosing tech for next-gen mobile TV

We'd surmise that neither Europe nor the Americas are anywhere close to worrying about a next-generation mobile TV standard, since virtually no carrier has managed to monetize the standards they've already adopted -- but things work a little differently in Japan where one-seg tuners are offered on nearly every portable device with a screen that's sold. A refinement of the existing ISDB-T technology designed to take advantage of the analog TV shutdown, ISDB-Tmm, had been pushed by NTT DoCoMo, while competitor KDDI -- the country's main CDMA operator -- had wanted to adopt Qualcomm's MediaFLO in a regulatory decision originally scheduled to be made by the middle of this month, but the government has apparently decided to hold off in the hopes that the two sides can work together on a mutually beneficial standard

Microsoft luring iPhone game devs to Windows Phone 7 with cold, hard cash?

A solid third-party app ecosystem is going to be absolutely critical to Windows Phone 7's commercial success -- and Microsoft clearly knows that, having spent nearly as much (if not more) energy talking to developers since the platform's announcement than it has directly to potential end users.

Microsoft changes naughty ‘sexting’ Kin ad, camera to be used for clothed chests only

As a card-carrying member of the Upload Generation, your Kin is about a lot of things: chilling with your peeps and BFFs, taking pictures and video of all of life's most awesome moments, keeping tabs on your MySpace pals, and documenting the fascinating story of your nipples without a pesky American Apparel V-neck getting in the way. Or wait... maybe not?

Verizon’s 2010 LTE launch: ‘it’s looking better each day, not worse’

By and large, Verizon hasn't flinched once in its march to LTE -- the proof is obviously going to be in the pudding, but leading up to the first commercial launches, they're talking as confidently as they ever have. Take last weeks Network World interview with the company's CTO Tony Melone, for example, where he's once again reiterated the carrier's intention to bring 25-30 markets live commercially this year and achieve roughly a complete overlay of its 3G network in 2013 . That's nothing new or particularly interesting, but Melone's choice of language is encouraging, saying that they're "ahead of where [they] thought [they'd] be as far as site readiness goes," going on to report that the 25-30 market goal for 2010 is "looking better each day, not worse each day." That's bold, but he got a little less bold when talking about LTE voice: "The question for us will be whether our footprint will be sufficient at that point to provide customers with a good experience for voice over LTE, or whether we'll be better off offering 3G coverage for voice and 4G for data." The hesitation has us believing that an initial round of dual-mode handsets is basically a forgone conclusion, but at least we'll have the modems up and running in the meantime.

SK Telecom’s Android SIM prototype combines CPU, storage and OS into one (video)

This is the future , we tell ya! Not the immediate future, mind you, as it's a humble prototype with no commercial intentions behind it, but it sure looks like the right direction for us to be moving in. SK Telecom has somehow fit a processing chip, memory, a gigabyte of flash storage and Google's Android OS onto the SIM you see above.
