BlackBerry Torch now burns in red and white hues at AT&T stores

Right on schedule , a day before Windows Phone 7 hits its stores in force , AT&T is letting a couple of new BlackBerry Torch SKUs out to play. They're basic repaint jobs, described by the carrier as Sunset Red and Pure White, the latter of which almost lives up to its name by including a white keyboard but falters by sticking to the noir optical pad.

Verizon pricing Droid Pro at $179, Samsung Continuum at $199?

Well, here's some good news -- we just received an internal Verizon pricelist confirming that the Droid Pro will sell for $179 when it hits on November 9th , a far sight lower than the $299 we'd originally heard . That's a pretty tempting price for Moto's Android-with-a-Blackberry-keyboard handset, although we're assuming that it'll be $279 with a $100 rebate at launch.

WIND Mobile picking up BlackBerry Curve 3G, it seems

With their limited footprints and subscriber counts -- and therefore, clout with manufacturers -- it stands to reason that Canada's nascent AWS operators would be keen to get in on as many phones designed for T-Mobile USA as they possibly can. Sure enough, fresh evidence on BGR points to a release of the AWS-capable BlackBerry Curve 3G on WIND Mobile at some point in the future, though we don't know exactly when -- and we're assuming that $9,999.00 listed price is a bit on the high side

BlackBerry Torch coming to AT&T in two fresh colors next month

Allow us to clarify, the colors are "fresh" as in "new," not as in " The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ." Don't get us wrong, though: white almost always looks fresh (in the Fresh Prince sense) on a phone, and the Torch seems to be no exception -- partly thanks to the matching white keyboard.

HTC Gratia is an Aria by another name, coming to Europe in November

It seems like launching a battalion of new handsets over the past month wasn't enough for HTC, so today the company's rolling out yet another option for European mobile phone buyers. Americans will already be familiar with the Gratia from their experience with AT&T's Aria , which looks to have made a more or less straight transition to the Old World markets. It now comes with Android 2.2 as its OS, while retaining its HTC Sense top-level skin (notably without the new "new" Sense additions present in the Desire HD and Desire Z), and is available in a pair of fresh new hues that include the deep green above and a lustrous white number after the break

BlackBerry Torch 9800 gets the Colorware treatment, sees value increase infinitely

So look -- RIM's BlackBerry Torch 9800 isn't exactly the barnburner-of-a-smartphone that we were hoping it'd be, but at least it looks snazzy, right? Right ?

How would you change Apple’s iPhone 4?

Handy Light for iPhone’s dirty little secret: tethering (update)

You may ask yourself, why on earth would anyone pay 99 cents for an iPhone app whose sole purpose is to flash bright, solid colors? We certainly wouldn't recommend it, but Handy Light has a great little Easter egg that undoubtedly doesn't jive with the folks at Cupertino HQ. Like Nullriver's Netshare app before it, this little piece of software allows for SOCKS proxy tethering, without having to sign up for AT&T's tethering plan

Nexus One sees red, nearly doubles battery life? (video)

These five Nexus One smartphones may seem to have defects, but there's actually nothing wrong with their AMOLED screens -- the funky colors are an attempt to improve battery life by turning off unnecessary sub-pixel LEDs. Hooking up his handset to an industrial power meter, Android engineer Jeff Sharkey discovered a blood-red screen drew 42 percent less current than full color -- the least of any combination by far -- purportedly doubling the effective battery life of the phone.
