LG Cosmos Touch hits Verizon November 23rd for $80

We're having a harder time by the day getting excited about a touchscreen dumbphone with a 1.3 megapixel camera for $80 -- especially now that you've got a number of respectable Android choices below that price point -- but if you're an LG diehard, you need physical QWERTY, and you couldn't care less about the Android Market, we suppose you might want to give the once-rumored , now-official Cosmos Touch a look. Besides the 2.8-inch wide QVGA display, you've got Bluetooth 2.1, memory expansion up to 16GB, some semblance of social networking support, and VZ Navigator turn-by-turn navigation on board. Symbian-Guru shuts down, says Nokia is ‘losing hard’

Well, we can't sugar-coat this one -- when a major Nokia / Symbian site like Symbian-Guru decides to close up shop "thanks to Nokia's consistently piss-poor hardware choices and Symbian's lack of ability to even remotely compete in terms of features," there's not much else to say. It sounds like shutting things down was at once both incredibly easy and incredibly hard for site heads Ricky Cadden and Rita El Khoury, who've both penned long letters about their decision -- you can tell both of them remain incredibly passionate about Nokia and Symbian, but that they've been disappointed by mediocre handsets like the N97 one time too many

Sony Ericsson’s Cedar, Yendo are official: candybar and an Android-free X10 mini clone

If the phone on the left looks familiar, it should -- it looks a heck of a lot like the Android-powered X10 mini , sharing the 2.6-inch touchscreen and some of its UI cues -- but alas, this bad boy isn't running Android.

Samsung Seek a dirt-cheap touchphone for Sprint?

Regardless of market segment, touch is all the rage these days, which means it's difficult for carriers to ignore it -- even in the cheapest corners of its product range. Word on the street is that Sprint will be shoring up its ultra-cheap touch offerings next month with the introduction of the Samsung Seek, a 2.6-inch QVGA piece with a meager 1.3 megapixel cam, microSD memory expansion, and not bloody much else. Color choices will be "Scarlet," "Cool Blue," and -- later on, if you want to hold out for the special edition -- "Fantasy Pink." This is all hearsay at this point, but the phone seems real enough with the FCC passage of a phone bearing the same model number a few months back, and we're hearing talk of a blockbuster $30 contract price -- not bad for a phone that almost looks mid- to high-end if you squint and forget the spec sheet for a moment.

HTC wants some help naming a phone, turns to Facebook users

HTC is known for being one of the more prolific codenamers in the entire wireless industry, going all the way back to the early days with unforgettable devices like the Canary and Blue Angel, but let's be honest: thinking up awesome names for all these phones when you're pumping out dozens of models a year gets tricky after a while. The English language is only so big, right? On that note, HTC has turned to its Facebook followers to come up with a name for "something new" that it's got cooking in the labs right now, and the choices are "Jovi," "Zeal," "Wildfire," and "Festi." Of course, we think that the nature of the device plays a big role in our choice (Jovi would be a good name for a washed-up phone with last year's specs, for instance), but the company isn't revealing an iota of detail about it, so we've gotta do this blind

iPhone GPS navigation head-to-head review

Nobody likes getting lost, and nobody likes paying too much for a reheated lunch at a franchise restaurant when there's a mouthwatering family joint hiding just around the corner. Wouldn't you know it, there's an app that solves those problems -- quite a few of the things, as it turns out. Following up on our earlier look at non-iPhone GPS apps, we took a look at the top iPhone navigation choices in the App Store and narrowed it down to the five below, then threw in a no charge option for kicks, covering a range of prices from free to to upwards of $120 per year
