Doom-themed live wallpaper for Android turns your phone into a playground of carnage
Okay, so maybe this isn't the best choice for businessfolk sporting their new Droid Pros , but if you remember Doom as fondly as we do, you're probably going to want to check this out. A dev over on xda-developers has posted information on his new Doom-themed live wallpaper -- it doesn't actually draw from the game itself, but he's taken the bad guys (the important part) and reused them on a flat, stationary playing field of his own design. Basically, your hero strolls around battling baddies as they spawn; when he finally succumbs to his countless festering wounds, he respawns in a different room ad nauseam.

Shocker: Verizon says Droid Eris won’t get Froyo
Though the HTC Droid Eris soldiers on in user pockets in a variety of guises , Verizon has unsurprisingly decided to disavow future updates for the canceled device . Carrier spokespersons told Computerworld that the Eris won't see Android 2.2.

Microsoft and Verizon say Kin’s monthly pricing isn’t crazy, when you think about it
Whatever you think about the Kin devices themselves, the one thing most folks can agree on is that their monthly pricing is more than a little out of step with their target audience -- except for Microsoft and Verizon, that is. Speaking to Computerworld , Microsoft senior product manager Greg Sullivan and Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney both raised the issue of the Kin's ability to backup to the cloud when defending the high monthly price ($30 for data on top of a standard phone plan), with Sullivan saying that once customers "realize the value of this, they'll realize it's a great deal." On another note, Sullivan also used some interesting language when discussing the possibility of app downloads for the Kin, saying that "over the longer term" Microsoft will be "merging" the Kin and Windows Phone 7 platforms and adding downloadable apps.

Verizon’s HTC Incredible gets a user’s manual
You can't buy an Incredible from Verizon just yet, but we're getting awfully close -- and in the meantime, you've got some exciting new reading material to pore over. It looks like the full, unabridged, seemingly final version of the phone's user's manual has just leaked over on Android Forums , and while there aren't any blockbuster revelations in here as far as we can tell, it confirms what we've long suspected: this is basically a CDMA Desire with an 8 megapixel camera. You've got the full Sense UI experience atop Android 2.1, a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 1GHz Snapdragon , and an optical joystick -- a new trend out of HTC that looks destined to completely supplant the trackball, much as it has already done for RIM.

Apple iPad 3G service plans on AT&T, $30 for unlimited data
In a direct blow to everyone else with a netbook and an unlimited data plan, AT&T has scored a deal to offer unlimited 3G data on 3G-capable versions of the iPad for $29.99 a month (then again, this is the same as an iPhone plan, and you're getting iPhone-level capability here). A 250MB plan, meanwhile, will be available for half that at $14.99 a month. Activation can happen right on the device -- no store visits or calls are necessary -- and there's no contract involved

HTC ‘Supersonic’ to ring in WiMAX on Sprint, Android-style
Remember that mysterious HTC A9292 with WiMAX rumored for Sprint a few days back? Well, take a seat, folks -- we think we've got the lowdown on it here from a trusted source, and it's a bit of a monster: Codename is "Supersonic" -- a name we've heard at least once before. Feels a lot like you'd expect an Android-powered HD2 to feel thanks to a 4.3-inch non-AMOLED display and a svelte shell
