New HTC device starts leaking piecemeal — is it the Mecha / Incredible HD?

So we've got a crazy theory here: Slashgear just got a couple closeup shots of some heretofore-unknown HTC . So did we -- one in common with Slashgear , one different. Could it be that Taiwan's finest are "leaking" us these shots in an effort to drum up interest going into CES in a couple weeks

HTC Knight hits Best Buy’s system with PG0610 model name

We've already seen what's purported to be the HTC Knight show up in Sprint's database under the guise of the HTC A7373 , and we now have yet another model name thrown into the mix courtesy of this supposedly legitimate shot of Best Buy's data transfer system. As you can see, what's clearly labeled as the HTC Knight is now sporting the PG0610 designation (previously seen at the FCC ), and it's chilling alongside the HTC EVO 4G , which certainly makes sense -- although it's less clear what the ancient HTC Apache is doing there

Verizon teases Android LTE hardware for January 6th at CES

Notice how we said "hardware," not "phones?" In light of that wild Motorola teaser we just saw and the fact that we know Verizon and Moto are working pretty closely on Android tablets , it's entirely possible that phones won't be the only items on Verizon's docket when it starts pulling the covers off its first consumer-oriented LTE gear at CES in a couple weeks. The fact that there'll be new LTE hardware intros from Verizon at CES is nothing new -- they've been saying as much for a while now -- but the specific mention of Android is a comforting confirmation that we'll probably see the HTC Mecha , that unnamed LG , and perhaps a tablet or two on hand as opposed to MetroPCS' unusual strategy of taking the dumbphone route .

Sony Ericsson Yendo delayed right into a fiery pit of irrelevance

Look, we'll be honest: the idea of an X10 mini running dumbphone software never really appealed to us from the start, so the news that it's apparently been delayed into 2011 doesn't elicit much of a reaction from anyone here at Engadget HQ.

AutoBot app tracks your car if it tries to roll without you

We smell a Hasbro lawsuit coming with this one, but for now AutoBot is a funky name for a potentially great iPhone and Android app. Working in concert with a Bluetooth OBD-II dongle (not unlike the Superchips Vivid ), it lets you diagnose engine troubles, keep track of maintenance, and locate your car via GPS coordinates -- useful for when some Decepticon tries to make off with your ride or when you're simply running low on energon and can't remember where you parked

Verizon chief tapped for CES 2011 keynote

When you keynote one of the biggest consumer electronics trade shows of the year, it's usually a Big Deal -- and you're also plainly aware that when you step up on that stage, your audience (read: us) is fully expecting you to unveil something new and awesome. On that note, we're intrigued to hear that Verizon Communications' Ivan Seidenberg has been selected to do the honors for the opening address at CES 2011 next January.

Emblaze’s First Else in danger of becoming a smoldering slab of vaporware?

We have word from an industry insider that the First Else handset running the ALP OS is in trouble. Not a surprise since Emblaze, the company behind the handset, has been dead quiet about Else ever since CES where it promised a March beta and Q2 launch

AirStash brings the WiFi, neglects the storage, for a cent under $100

When we last saw the AirStash , it was keeping its mystique about it and refusing to disclose any salient details beyond the fact that it'll function as a wireless SD/SDHC card reader. Today, the fog of war is lifted with the news that the AirStash is now officially on sale for $99.99, and will come with a battery good for five hours of continuous data streaming.

Inbrics’ Android-based M1 slated to ship this year

We already caught a fair amount of play time with Inbrics' Android-based M1 at CES, but it looks as if the company is fixing to "officially" reveal it next week at Mobile World Congress.

Unannounced BlackBerry Curve 8910 took CES refuge at Case-Mate’s booth?

RIM has an interesting reputation in the trade show world: it rarely makes any announcements of interest or consequence during events, but if you look hard enough, you still might just find something juicy. Last year's CES, for example, briefly saw a Curve 8900 mysteriously running AT&T-branded firmware , which we now know foretold a release several months later. This year's shindig in Vegas proved to be a little less bombastic -- or so we thought, anyway, until a dude cleaning out his camera's memory card noticed that Case-Mate (of all companies) allegedly had an unannounced Curve 8910 chilling in its booth
