Unannounced BlackBerry Curve 8910 took CES refuge at Case-Mate’s booth?
RIM has an interesting reputation in the trade show world: it rarely makes any announcements of interest or consequence during events, but if you look hard enough, you still might just find something juicy. Last year's CES, for example, briefly saw a Curve 8900 mysteriously running AT&T-branded firmware , which we now know foretold a release several months later. This year's shindig in Vegas proved to be a little less bombastic -- or so we thought, anyway, until a dude cleaning out his camera's memory card noticed that Case-Mate (of all companies) allegedly had an unannounced Curve 8910 chilling in its booth

Sonim’s ‘unbreakable’ handset shattered on the BBC
What happens when you let all comers batter, submerge, and otherwise abuse your so-called "unbreakable" handsets on the show floor at CES? Well, sometimes they break -- as a certain BBC News video makes abundantly clear. Are you ready for the truth

First Else hands-on: ‘still alive and kicking’
We caught up with Else at CES to check on how they're doing with the First Else since we last saw them back in November. According to CTO Eldad Eilam, the basic functions of the ALP -based phone are finally done and dusted, so now Else will mainly focus on fine-tuning its snazzy visual effects until beta around the end of March

Samsung launches Jitterbug J in Red at CES
Samsung's handset for your golden years -- though, they're attempting to change that -- surfaced at CES in red to support the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement, and Samsung Mobile's support will ring in at $500,000 based on handset sales (though we're really hopeful they don't have to sell 500,000 sets to make that happen). So if you're looking to contribute, and maybe know someone who could benefit, you'll get your chance sometime this month

Google: Nexus One not supporting 802.11n (for the time being)
Contrary to what we saw two days ago (in this boffo teardown as well as on Google's official spec page) the company is now listing the Nexus One as supporting 802.11b/g and not 802.11n -- conforming at least to the specifications on HTC's official specifications, if not to our hopes and dreams. We'll let you know if anything changes -- again! LG’s GT540 mixes Android 2.0, pretty, and low-end
LG made the bold leap to Android 2.0 with the low-to midrange GT540 it's showing this week, turning up the style dial a couple notches in a handful of colors (white, pink, dark gray, and black) with stylized wavy backs, chrome accents, and rounded edges.

MagicJack makes a femtocell, might make that advertising worth hearing
Femtocells now offer cell phone service for $1.70 a month with MagicJack! That's just $19.95 a year. $19.95 a year ! MagicJack's femtocell works with mobile phones "potentially" from any carrier, though only GSM is mentioned. Apparently just coming within eight feet connects your phone to the femtocell, after which you can supposedly travel anywhere you like in the house.

Video recording coming to all webOS devices in February (updated: Flash, too!)
High on the list of conspicuously-missing features for the Pre and Pixi has been video recording -- but happily, Palm's looking to close that gap shortly.

Live from Sprint’s ’4G Experience’ event at CES 2010
We're live from Sprint's "4G Experience" event here at CES, which leaves little to the imagination -- or does it? We don't know what the company intends to unveil here, but we spied Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo wandering around outside, so it could be an extraordinarily surprising get-together indeed. LG eXpo projector hands-on
You'll be familiar with the LG eXpo and its specs already -- which include a slideout QWERTY keyboard and 1GHz Snapdragon under the hood -- but we thought we'd go try the handset out for ourselves and tell you what we thought.
