LG LU3000 taking its 1080p talents to South Korea in a week’s time
Ah, LG's LU3000, the sprightly young thing that made the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S look a wee bit aged in some YouTube tests has now become official over in South Korea. It boasts a 1GHz TI OMAP3630 chip, allowing it to jot down 1080p video playback on its spec sheet, which in turn goes very nicely with the built-in HDMI port and DLNA wireless capabilities. A 3.8-inch screen offers an 800 x 480 resolution, there's a 5 megapixel camera around the back, and a mildly skinned Android 2.2 performs the OS duties

LG Apex with Android and QWERTY hitting US Cellular this week for $80, Optimus U in December
Between the Desire , the Mesmerize , and the Galaxy Tab , US Cellular's already made it clear that they're pretty committed to Android , and the latest evidence of that comes this week in the form of the LG Apex. The QWERTY slider features a 3.2-inch display, 3 megapixel autofocus camera with flash, and Android 2.1 -- hopefully with a Froyo or Gingerbread upgrade in the works -- for $79.99, launching this Friday in US Cellular stores. Kind of looks a little bit like a keyboard-equipped version of the Optimus One , doesn't it?

Is the iPhone 4 having proximity sensor troubles?
The iPhone 4 's massive launch hasn't been blemish free, with reports of spotty displays (which seem to have disappeared) and antenna woes being rather widely reported. Well -- it looks like it's possible there's another issue too -- this time with the proximity sensor

Engadget Mobile Podcast 043 – 06.18.2010
We've got a little bit of a delay in producing the podcast this week, but that doesn't mean you need to be podcastless -- far from it, in fact. What we're doing is providing you with a replay of the live audio from yesterday's show in the meantime. Yes, true, that means iTunes and RSS feeds won't work quite yet, but think of it this way: you can simulate the live show experience
Garmin-Asus planning another nuvifone for AT&T?
It takes a little bit of creative dot-connecting to follow our thought process here -- but we think we're onto something, so do us a favor and lend us an ear for a second.

BlackBerry Bold 9650 sales kicking off on Verizon this week?
We can't vouch for the authenticity here, but a shot over Berry Reporter alleges that Big Red will finally start taking orders for the Bold 9650 via direct fulfillment this week -- on June 3, to be exact. Considering Verizon's time-honored tradition of being all over RIM's latest CDMA releases on the double (probably because their development is funded largely by Verizon's orders), we're actually kind of surprised it's not on shelves already; it's possible that Sprint negotiated a short, sweet exclusivity period for itself just to get a little bit of a head start, we suppose.

Android 2.2 wastes no time getting hacked onto HTC Dream and Magic
Though we're not even a wee bit shocked to see a "usable" version of Froyo already available to owners of the G1 / Dream and Magic , we're definitely heartened to see that phones running 2008 specs can handily run a mid-2010 version of the platform. There's plenty of stuff that doesn't work yet -- WiFi and GPS, just to name a couple of biggies -- but we suspect that this is one dev community that won't give up until everything is working to their satisfaction. Motivation to hang on to otherwise outdated hardware for a few more months, perhaps?

Updated Windows Phone 7 videos show Office doing awesome things
As much as Microsoft has revealed about Windows Phone 7 thus far in the past two months, one critical, differentiating element that it's going to be able to lord over its competitors -- true Office support -- has been a bit of a black box. We're starting to see a little bit more about the Office team's next-gen mobile product now, though, thanks to a pair of new videos that have been published this week. The first focuses on the email and calendar experience, but we do see one pretty awesome trick when the demo opens a PowerPoint file inline from the email client, edits it, and sends it back to the original sender.
