Carphone Warehouse getting Nexus Two in time for holidays?

This is kinda out of the blue, but British publication City A.M. is claiming that Google has inked a deal with wireless retail giant Carphone Warehouse to exclusively sell a Nexus Two -- the mythical successor to the Nexus One -- in time for Christmas this year. Little else is offered, though the story claims that it'll run Gingerbread and probably won't be manufactured by Samsung.

Android 2.2 coming to Nexus One, open source community ‘in the coming weeks’

Why, thanks Google ! Just a day after wrapping up a rather monumental Google I/O event in Northern California, the company's official show Twitter account has belted out a tidbit that just about every attendee was wondering about. According to the outfit, Android 2.2 (yeah, that's Froyo for the inexperienced) will be "made available to OEMs and the open source community in the coming weeks," and it'll be hitting up the HTC-built Nexus One in the "next few weeks." That's music to our ears, and if you're unsure what kind of impact this will have on your own life, feel free to take a deep dive into this right here . [Thanks, Alex] Continue reading Android 2.2 coming to Nexus One, open source community 'in the coming weeks' Android 2.2 coming to Nexus One, open source community 'in the coming weeks' originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 21 May 2010 16:08:00 EST.

Microsoft sending mixed signals on Windows Phone 7 Series upgrades, HTC HD2 still in limbo

The fate of the mighty HTC HD2 seems to be getting murkier by the minute: Microsoft UK VP Alex Reeve said last week that an upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series might be left up to hardware partners , but now Natasha Kwan, General Manager for Microsoft's Asia Pacific Mobile Communications Business says the 1GHz handset "doesn't qualify because it doesn't have the three buttons" required by WP7. Making matters even less clear, we asked Microsoft's Director of Consumer Experiences Aaron Woodman about the HD2 directly on The Engadget Show , and he said he wasn't "going to tell" us about the device's upgradability, and that WP7's final required specs would be revealed at MIX '10

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 exhaustively previewed, screenshotted to death

While we patiently wait for the X10 to make its way into retail channels (or, you know, give up and buy something else instead), mobile-review's Eldar Murtazin has come through once again with one of his world-famous eleventy billion page previews rife with thousands of screenshots, which should take you long enough to skim through so that the phone's available by the time you're done. Thing is, you may not want it anymore: Eldar's concerned by the phone's cheap plastic shell, which is particularly alarming in light of the direction competitors are going , and the screen could apparently be better. Add in the fact that it'll be launching with Android 1.6 and there's no question Sony Ericsson's first Android effort is going to face an uphill battle -- let's just hope they learn from the complaints and get an updated Android build rolled out on the double

Is YLOD a real risk or a 360 fanboy exagerated problem because of the RROD?

Hey all, I finally replaced the dead blu ray laser in my 60GB PS3, but I had ended up getting a PS3 slim for christmas. I want to keep the 60GB, but I hear so much about the YLOD here, and I have someone willing to buy it for over $330. I'm so terrified of the YLOD that I'm probably selling the 60GB, unless YLOD really isn't that common
