Fully-functional Android port for N900 threatens to beat N9 to market
The NITDroid project has been slogging along this year in an effort to get Android fully ported to Nokia's N900 , and the progress has been promising so far -- but wouldn't it be nice if you could, you know, make calls ? Looks like these guys are making some solid progress there with a new video showing both incoming and outgoing calls doing... well, something or another on the N900 side

BlackBerry Curve 9330’s marriage with Sprint seemingly leaked by RIM
When RIM crafts a CDMA BlackBerry, you can bet -- well, usually bet -- that it's destined for both Sprint and Verizon, since there aren't many other carrier partners anywhere in the world where Waterloo can recoup the R&D costs. We've already heard plenty of rumors that Verizon's signed up to get it in the coming months, and now we've got information from none other than RIM itself that Sprint has its eyes on the 8530 successor, too. A knowledge base article on RIM's site (which has now been pulled, of course) referred to a "Sprint BlackBerry Curve 9330 smartphone," which pretty much says it all -- we suppose it's possible that the article's author was just preparing for the possibility that Sprint would be getting it, but we think the more likely scenario is that it was official info that went up a tad early

Droid Pro is the global Droid 2: the evidence grows
We'd reported before our belief that the rumored Droid Pro is nothing more than the dual-mode version of the Droid 2 , but the question remained: knowing that the Droid 2 has a model code of A955, what the heck is the difference between the model codes A956 and A957 that have been showing up in Verizon's systems? Looks like we might have some clarification on that question this afternoon thanks to a new shot clearly calling out the A957 as the R2-D2 version of the Droid 2 that's launching late next month. What does that mean

Samsung Fascinate shows up in Verizon warehouse manifest, destined for September launch?
While Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile customers have been enjoying their epic , vibrant and captivating Galaxy S variants for weeks, the only thing fascinating about Verizon's take on the Samsung smartphone is how long it's taken to arrive.

Cricket starts offering Android-powered Zio for $230
As we discovered back at its CTIA intro earlier this year, Kyocera's (and Sanyo's) Zio isn't the neatest Android phone you've ever seen -- nor the most technically impressive -- but at $230 without a contract after $20 discount, it's pretty hard to argue that you're not getting what you pay for. Regional carrier Cricket had been promising the Zio for some time, and now it's here, just the latest in the company's newfound push into the smartphone space -- a space it's traditionally avoided in the past -- with the recent launch of the Curve 8530 (for the same price as the Zio, coincidentally). Trackballs are officially pass

Verizon pushing Droid update for Flash 10.1 compatibility
You might recall that Verizon and Motorola's first go-around at pushing Android 2.2 to the original Droid didn't include compatibility with the Flash 10.1 install in the Market -- but don't worry, lovers of Flash-based web ads, because the fix is now upon us.

The revolving door: Froyo for Droid Incredible coming tomorrow, Froyo for EVO 4G gets rooted
The rich landscape of Android versioning just got a bit richer, with word of an official Froyo update for the Droid Incredible being launched tomorrow (based on the screencap pictured above), while the EVO 4G's recent Froyo software just got rooted. If you're crazily impatient, an Android 2.2 ROM for the Incredible just leaked out into the wild, and can be installed with a bit of work, but from the official-looking-ness of this leak from Droid Life , a painless official update is not far off

T-Mobile G2 build leaks out, points to potent MSM7×30 chipset?
What's inside the T-Mobile G2, aside from fancy hinges and an HSPA+ capable modem ? We can't say for sure, but this week saw a zip file from China set the Android community astir with visions of vanilla frozen yogurt heaped high atop a stack of powerful silicon. Android Guys discovered an allegedly leaked G2 Android 2.2 build (sans Sense ) at the website of one 911sniper , last seen outing supposed HTC specs left and right , and our old friend Cyanogen took it upon himself to have a peek inside
