Why do I need a Canadian Temporary Resident Visa?
My wife and I (both U.S. citizens) has rented an apartment in Vancouver in April 2008 for weekend and holiday use. I have done much research on seasonal resident in Canada and found that they can not benefit from a seasonal residence permit, because we do not own the apartment building and the lease is less than three years. After returning to the United States to visit, where we rented an apartment, I called the “Call Center” and asked what I should do to bring personal items into Canada for personal use in the building (I bet you’re used to laugh and probably saying, “big mistake” Right About Now). He said that making a list of items, which I explain to the goods are for (the apartment) and could have saved me and when the items leave the proof that I took with moi.Nous are then boarded Douglas and to explain exactly how I described above, and quickly was asked to put on the secondary field of control. Inside, we were grilled separately from IO on our intentions, I think we thought we were moving there haut.Après fun few hours’ fluorescence, “they called us and we issued the temporary resident visa, we explained that we had provide the documents for immigration to renew in the next 6 months. Actually, I do not know why we needed visas, there will be temporary residents in this way. But we were so happy to leave the office , which we readily agree with him and made our way to Vancouver.Au first 6 months of our visit in both directions, which are usually directed to the border by other reasons why I have published this document to get started. A official said it was a good thing because you are the “system” should you decide to become PR.Je as having to spend $ 150 every six months to ask for something I did not need it! So after 4 months, I have presented an extension , Nexus, and after the expiration of the standard view has been renewed. Meanwhile, we pass, then stopped to see the ego is so life was good. so far? our second request for extension of visa was refused just now . WTF? They sent me a letter saying that the officer did not believe meets the requirements and if I had not left Canada I had suffered. No problem, I’m back here in the United States, but nothing has changed since my application The first expansion. I still have my home in the U.S., work, family ici.ca brings me to my questions: 1) Why do I need to start? … I understand they wanted to keep an eye nous.2 ) Why did they just rejected me? 3) If I go to Vancouver next week for the anniversary of my friends who are still allowed to enter the country? “I do not think I’ve been evicted!?!? 4) Assuming that were not expelled, and as a United States citizen can enter Canada for up to six months, I’m losing something that does not obtain an extension of the visa approved? If so, should I reapply? Please read this and if you have any advice I appreciate it. All I want to do is visit Vancouver and do not stress about it.
Did you explain in your visa extension application that you are only staying there on the weekends? I am sure they have the border crossing logs for this. The problem is that the system is not geared for people who are staying in Canada every weekend. As an American, you are allowed to stay in Canada up to 6 months a year as a visitor but 52 times 2 days (every weekend) means a lot of border crossings. They also have the right to deny you entry any time they want if they question your intentions. Same in the US. Like when you show up at the border with a truck full of your belongings, they might question that you are just coming over on vacation.
You should deal with the Canadian embassy in Buffalo about this. See if you can do something to fix your status in the system immediately. If not, you might have to stay out for 6 months and then apply for some kind of clearance to come back.
I think the problem here is that the Canadians aren’t sure if you are living there or not. Normally they are not supposed to issue a visit visa unless they are convinced you will leave again. I hope you explained also in your application that you still have a job in the US. In any case, they don’t know what to do with you because you keep coming back. With a visit visa, even though you don’t, there would be nothing stopping you from staying in Canada the whole time and they don’t want people to live in Canada permanently on visit visas.
an american can only enter canada for a maximum of six months at border controls discretion, they have the right to limit your visit to any amount of time they choose so you are best to have a visa
Ask a Canadian how it goes if you arrive at the American border with a van load of furniture and a long lease, more than tourist permitted time in the US.
